Send your prayers, energies & thoughts to our friends in London here
They have mine and I think that a thread like this might be of better help than trying to politicize it.

1. Mine, too.
London is a beautiful city and I visited there during the Silver Jubilee of 1977. I have ties through ancestors there.

My heart goes out to them and all of Britain today.

6. This is just awful
We just got in touch with my cousin who was in London just two days ago.

This is so terrible because everybody in Britain uses the transportation. It's a very extensive system...No doubt many will be afraid to use it for sometime.

108. The first time that I cried after 9/11
was when the Queen asked the Royal Band to play our national anthem, an anthem that was written while we were at war with them. I had never felt closer to them than at that moment. To the noble people of Great Britain may God bless your nation and comfort you in your hours of despair, and God please bless the rest of Earth we could sure use it.

Love,
Uncle Joe

Good luck, everyone. London survived the blitz and it will survive this. I hope they can get the city back to normal quickly, and that everyone's families are all right.

Because this is a terrorist attack it is unfortunately already and unavoidably political. However, it behooves us Americans to remember that today, it is just not about us.

Good luck,

The Plaid Adder

26. Not just the residents of London but those visiting too
and their families.

My father-in-law, brother-in-law and a niece and nephew left last night for a school sponsored trip to Europe. They were flying into France with a layover there and then flying to England, I am pretty sure to London.

My understanding right now is that they were not scheduled to arrive until later in the morning so we think they are okay, but I wonder about other families who may have loved ones there.

My thoughts and prayers go out to them as well and hope they receive good news.

Unfortunately, those of us who are American know how this feels. We also know that it affects everyone, not just the people of London. So to all of Britain, I offer my sincerest condolences and best wishes. I think I can speak for the majority of Americans when I say that we never wanted anyone else to go through something like this. It is a tragedy that we did not want to share.

81. There's a time for everything.
I predict there will be a wide range of emotions that will run their course about this tragedy.

For me right now the feeling is sadness for the victims and their families, empathy for the shock and fear this attack has generated for everyone in the UK, and anger at the perpetrators who purposely caused innocent people's lives to be devostated. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

83. My heart goes out to all
who are affected by these terrorist attacks. There are no words to express the outrage and grief at these monsters who so brazenly kill innocent civilians. Bush has not made our world safer, and unfortunately it is NOT those who start the wars who are hurt by them.
Please know that Blue America is mourning for you and yours, my Brit brothers and sisters.

99. Just posted this to my blog ...
London Falling – 7-7-05
All of us at Bill's Brain send our deepest sympathies to everyone who has been affected by the terrorist attacks in Britain, and especially to those who have lost loved ones. I remember how I felt on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, and I share your grief.

I sincerely hope that your leaders will honor the memory of those who have fallen by finding the criminals responsible and bringing them to justice, and not disgrace you and your country by using the tragedy to further their own unrelated agenda, as our leaders have done with 9/11. (And I’m sad to say it, but I’m sure that our leaders will also try to use your tragedy to continue furthering their destructive agenda.)

One very painful lesson that we in America have learned is that in these times of turmoil you must be vigilant - don’t let your government take advantage of your pain and anger. It is all too easy in emotional moments like this to march unquestioningly to the drums of war. Visions of revenge (dressed up in the costume of “justice”) can easily blind you to the motives of those who are beating the drums and leading the march. Don’t allow yourselves to be led astray as we were. Don’t allow yourselves to become that which you hate.

May those responsible for these tragedies be brought to justice, and may peace be with you, my British friends.

107. Either or...prayers and thoughts or politicizing
I can't agree with your position that we should send our prayers, energies and thoughts rather than politicizing the bombings in London. This isn't an either or situation. I think we should pray, send thoughts and energies AND politicize the event.

In my Ratbang Diary blog this morning, I have posted both Bush's inane and inarticulate off-the-cuff remarks and Blair's extempore remarks about the bombings as an example of the differences between an intelligent leader (no matter if you agree or disagree with him) like Blair, and a stupid mental defective like our President.

If that is politicizing the event, then that's what I'm doing.

I visited London in late 2000 and absolutely fell in love with the city and the people there. The horrific bombings there today were a real shock; however, the British are very strong people, and they will overcome this with typical British resolve. :)

My thoughts and prayers are with those of you in the UK going through this nightmare. When I think of the UK, I think of the long history with the US. People like Churchhill and Rooservelt, make my heart swell with pride when I think of how they loved freedom and fought adversity. We continue to stand with you in this difficult time.
