We knew that another terrorist attack was coming.
I can't get over the feeling that this was planned, in particular for Blair, who's been having the most troubles recently.

5. I'm saying that it feels like the G8 summit and the attack
were planned together.

12. It's not a coincidence that this happened today
on the first day of the G8-summit.

I mean, where do you think all the London coppers are these days? London? Nuh-Uh?

4. Trust me, this does NOT help Blair.
He was already on his way out. This can only hasten his departure.

9. Brits hold their leaders responsible when they screw up.
Blair is toast. Of course his closest supporters are going to continue to support him, but that doesn't mean HE DID IT, for crying out loud.

15. Blair was already on VERY thin ice as it was.
This is NOT going to help him, not one bit, and I'm sure he knows it.

Brits will probably have a different reaction than most sheeple Americans.

UK does not equal US. Tony Blair is deeply unpopular here.

10. BUT it could help BUSH by creating another frenzy.
Edited on Thu Jul-07-05 08:41 AM by in_cog_ni_to
His sheeple always buy this shit. Bush couldn't very well have this happen here. He's SUPPOSEDLY keeping us safe. :eyes: If this happened here, he would pay for it. We expected this! We all knew there would be a terrorist attack if Cooper or Miller testified. Here it is. They have become predictable.

makes sense to me.
bush's polls are down, another terrorist attack in the US would mean that bush isn't "protecting" us from terrorism - but, if there were a terror attack in another country......

some further thoughts on why Bush needed another terrorist incident to dry hump:

wasn't the UK almost ready to pull out of Iraq?
DSM made it to the CNN crawl the other morning - we are starting to get actual news on tv news.
army recruiting numbers.
O'Conners retirement - need support for an extreme right wing replacement.

29. If I were a Muslim, I would be embarrassed
They apparently have all these terrorist organizations that can't do jack shit.

Meanwhile the US and Britain are blowing shit up all over the place in their name.

Can't their guys get in on the action just once. I mean, they were able to beat the Soviets, but they have not been able to plant one bomb since 2000.

19. I thought we liked the CIA now
On all the Plame posts, the CIA is held up as the last vestige of sanity.

Which I have to admit, I find creepy.

It does happen to be a HUGE convenience for CCB though......deflection from DSM, Rove/Plame, the still=missing $$ in Iraq, hell, the war in Iraq itself......

22. Not a distraction, but more bad news upon bad news for Bush and Blair
Of course they're going to continue to paint a rosy picture. That is their MO, in spite of realities to the contrary.

Meanwhile, how will the dufus Americans voting for Bush because another attack since 9-11 hasn't yet taken place on US soil react? Will the UK be too close for comfort for these lamebrains RW fascists, or will they breathe a sigh of relief and "reason," "Well, at least it wasn't us, due to Bush's vigilance, leadership and moral guidance!"

26. Do you mean in terms of retaliation for the US/UK bombing Iraq?
I have yet to hear any talking head mention that as a possibility--don't expect to, since the "media" will continue to push the art of war and retaliation in unquestioning fashion just as they did post 9-11.
