When Bush uses the word "compassion" it makes my skin crawl |
|
could he just say how deeply sorry he is for the London tragedy without repeating more orwellian propaganda and BS? We are simply trying to spread a message of "compassion" in the world (paraphrase). Yea right! The man is not capable of expressing genuine empathy or "compassion". He didn't waste a moment in using the tragedy to spew his standard propaganda. Of course, we couldn't expect anything truly dignified.

the number of times he said the word "I" in his speech. But I lost count. He is totally unable to see this as separate from himself. Thus, he has no idea what compassion is: he mistakes his self-pity for a mature emotion. This is a mark of a specific personality type.

he lives in an alternate reality where empathy does not exist. All the people around him seem to have a similar problem. None of his speech writers or advisers could even come up with a simple dignified statement to express sympathy and concern for the people of London. Just as they have never been able to make appropriate comments to families who have lost love ones in Iraq. I have come to the conclusion that anyone truly capable of compassion is immediately purged.
