WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. officials reacted with little public fanfare to the terrorist attacks in London on Thursday, reporting no indication a similar attack was planned in the United States and no immediate plan to raise the terrorism alert level.

<snip>

"The Department of Homeland Security does not have any intelligence indicating this type of attack is planned in the United States," spokeswoman Katy Montgomery said in stressing that the department would "constantly evaluate both the threat information as well as our protective measures."

She said officials at the Department of Homeland Security had spoken with others at the state and local level as well as public and private sector officials representing major transportation systems.

She declined to say what additional security measures had been taken and where.

This is the kind of arrogance that caused 9/11!!! :mad:

I mean, all through the election year, all we heard was "Watch Out!! Terra!"

Now that there is an actual incident, they would act like nothing big has happened. "Don't worry, folks...Everything's fine!" Please don't let the stock drop...pretty please!

Not to mention, they stress that they have no intelligence that shows an attack on the U.S. So what? Did they have intelligence on the London attack?
You people have no idea what you're doing! :mad: :mad: :mad:

1. I was just checking to see if we'd gone to orange
There are extra precautious taken that require more time at some places I travel, such as airports. Apparently not?

3. Exactly
Their cheerleaders will have to come to accept that these men will not keep us safe from terrorists. In fact, their actions are encouraging more folks to engage in violence against our countries and our agents.

I would fully support our government's efforts to put a halt to the violence, but I don't think they can do that with defensive measures alone. We need leaders who aren't so inclined to act out of fear and make matters worse by striking out, indiscriminately and collaterally killing innocents, and threatening rights and civil liberties.

4. Of course not, terror alerts are only used in political situations while
a "real" attack does not warrant one.

5. If they did put us on alert, it would only raise questions...
Such as "If we're put on full alert doesn't that mean we're not safer on Bush's watch?"

Bush can't have that.
