2. no I didn't lie about anything
The way I remember it, millions of Americans came out and protested in a coordinated protest, one of the biggest in American history, in the run-up to the war in Iraq.

No one lied. It all unfolded exactly as progressives warned it would.

The only people who should feel dirty are the terrorists and those who would waste our resources on stealing Iraq when we have a real war going on with evil.

4. Yes, those evil terrorists have nothing to do with our plundering
Two separate issues. They're crazy religious zealots who don't even appreciate what we're doing to them. :eyes:

7. NO,.... you're right they LIKE having us interfer with their civil war....
How would we have really felt if another nation had become involved in our civil war (say if Britain HAD aided the confederacy)?

15. Americans and people around the world protested setting a,...
,...historical precedent. We knew the aftermath of this war would be the fire that ignited a cycle of violence.

FUCK!!! I am so freakin' angry at this whole disgusting web of bloody fire.

18. "It all unfolded exactly as progressives warned it would."
That is so exactly right. None of us are experts on national security, yet ALL of us could see where Bush's disastrous policies would lead.

And yet the dumbfuck repukes STILL try to pretend that we opposed (and continue to oppose) Bush simply for "political" reasons. No, assholes, we oppose Bush because he is flat-out THE most incompetent bungler ever to occupy the Oval Office. Proof of his failures can be found EVERYWHERE, and more of it every damned day.

3. Not at all.
"We" didn't lie; the head of MI6 told Blair that the case for the war was a load of bollocks, and he went ahead anyway. It's on Blair, and Bush. My conscience is just fine.

9. Only in the sense that my tax dollars
are financing the murdering of innocent people. And had we all been more politically involved years ago, more aware of the neocon threat, could this have been prevented?

14. I feel guilty. I supported the war in the beginning. I believed the lies.
Edited on Thu Jul-07-05 09:21 AM by IanDB1
It wasn't that I believed Bush.

It was because when Colin Powell stood in front of the cameras, I trusted Colin Powell and I believed Colin Powell.

It was when I saw the footage on TV of the art museums being looted that I realized the war is a lie.

The places where WMDs and the places where documents providing evidence of them would have been weren't being guarded. The museums weren't being guarded.

That was when I knew we weren't there because there were WMDs and we weren't there to Win The Hearts and Minds of the Iraqi people.

So, while I went in the streets to protest the stolen election of 2000, I still did nothing to protest the beginning of the war in Iraq.

I believed the lies and I feel stupid, guilty and angry.

16. Don't! You were betrayed. That's not your fault.
Anger, fine. Stupid and guilty, don't do that to yourself. We SHOULD be able to trust our government to level with us because we are suppose to be living in a democracy free of deceptive tyranny. BUT, deceptive tyrants are running this country at the moment. THEY are responsible for betraying our people and for exploiting our people.

19. No it's not our fault.... but I fear the bad karma we are creating...
By not stopping this war "by any means necessary"... but it quite possibly could have meant taking up arms against our own government.

I guess that old 20/20 hindsite is what really shows us what causes are "light and transient" and which ones are not.

22. The hope would be that our contrition
would spread through this administration and its adherents.

Can't they all see what their policies do to innocent people, to the economies of the world? I suppose the evil don't burden themselves with sorrow. There's always another drink or pill waiting, another plot to carry out and cover up, another prostitute to invite into the White House.

We are sad for the karma we helped create. If I were them, I would live in fear every moment of the day. Their own karma will blindside them like a herd of raging bison.

20. I was always against the war but when Blair and Powell spoke
I remember thinking "maybe they know something no one else does and can't tell us." Without further explanation I still didn't support it but it made my resignation easier.

I hate to say it but both Bush and Blair were reelected. I blame myself only in the sense that none of us were able to articulate to the (small) majority why this war was so wrong.

I mean, for all we know, it could just be some fanatic in Britain or maybe from somewhere else who saw a chance to strike.

Something like the Anthrax killer here...
