Two questions for the paranoid set |
|
1. How does this help Blair? His numbers were a disaster until yesterday when he brilliantly out-flanked Chirac to swipe the Olympics. So, the Brits are happy with him for the first time in years. And he decides to bring the war home to them? All this is going to do is raise the question: "What in the bloody hell are we doing in Iraq?"
2. How does this distract from the War? The Rove situation I guess I can see. Though it's not like the prosecutor, judge and grand jury are going to take a month off because of a bombing in London. Rove is either toast or he isn't. It's not in the hands of us or the media at this point.
But the idea that this distracts from Iraq is asinine. The new argument is "We fight them there so we don't have to fight them here." Well, now we are apparently fighting them in both spots...and this is somehow good for Bush/Blair? Isn't the question again (for Americans): "What the fuck are we doing in Iraq?

I think it is the start of some serious retribution. More to come.

15. Agreed, Blair has got to be shitting his pants |
|
This will not "rally" the citizens of the UK into a patriotic, united behind Blair frenzy...I believe Blair will get the blame square on the chin from the hurt and sad people in the UK. In fact, this may be the final straw for him now.
You thought the pressure was on before Poodle? Get ready, there is no way you survive this one now politically.
In other thoughts, my deepest sympathies and my heartbroken thoughts are with everyone in the UK right now...tragic, and the worst part, totally preventable had our administration not lied. I hold our own president and his handlers equally responsible for this as I hold whatever scum who actually planned and executed this attack responsible.
Hell is waiting for you Georgie, and your sneaking little friends too . . you GOT to know that now.

I will withold judgment before spouting off a conspiracy theory on these attacks.

5. It may rejunvenate the moribund "War on Terror" |
|
Which will help Bush. Perhaps the Bush crime family wants to get the Brits back on track?

Besides, I think the Brits are more likely to pull a Spain after this than anything else.

8. They were toying with the idea anyway |
|
Blair has no political capital left. He was starting rebuild it yesterday with the Olympics. But now its gone. Any happiness has been replaced by misery and eventually they are going to look to their blinky leader and ask him, "What on earth are you doing?"

9. UK media is already talking about Iraq |
|
which obviously won't help Blair or distract from the war. I guess that removes the CIA and/or Israeli operatives as possible suspects for the "paranoid" (make that preternaturally insane) set.

Brits, unlike 'Murkins, tend to be better informed and more critical of the news they read and hear. At least that's been true of the ones I've known in my life.
Dumbshits in Jesusland see a terrorist attack as an imperative to stand behind a leader who, though an incompetent dunderhead, looks all swagger-y and stuff and says things like "resolve".

It takes attention away from the Plame case (not ONE WORD about that today), it works his sheeple into a frenzy (duct tape and plastic wrap comes to mind) and it sends a warning to Tony who was planning on taking troops out of Iraq to send to Afghanistan (which would leave the entire Iraq war for US to pay for). The sheeple will NOT ask "What are we doing in Iraq?" They're too ignorant. They will say, "See, THIS IS WHY we should be in Iraq!" JMCPO

been hitting Blair. It seems as if Bush is ALWAYS preparing the ground or in a curiously special position when big things happen. Prevention is not anywhewre's first in his list of priorities. It is maintaining power and manipulating adversity toward the same ends.
Speculation is justified but the truth is the unknown prize for which we must work and wait.
