The Britain attack makes perfect sense (I think) and here is why
I wrote something on my blog yesterday that is reinforced by the attacks of today. In essence Britain was attacked today precisely because they are pulling back on this illegal war, they needed a jolt - why you ask, here is part of what I wrote yesterday about why we haven't been attacked on our soil since 9/11 (the sheepole just love to crow about how Bush has protected us):

So why haven’t we been attacked on our soil since 9/11? I think that even the Sheepole would agree that there are terrorists in this county, so they could easily strap on a suicide bomb and walk into a Wal Mart in Topeka – right? So why haven’t they? I hate to break it to you Sheepole but it isn’t because of your blind notion of Bush’s heroic leadership. Simply put it is because they don’t need to, they got what they wanted, by their one horrific act. Bush over reacted, yes Afghanistan was right, but by invading an Arab country unprovoked we have given the terrorists the recruiting poster and a war on Islam. bin Laden is out there somewhere laughing his ass off at Bush. After 9/11 we had all of the world behind us, the terrorists had everyone against them, now Bush has managed to reverse that in world opinion. They won’t strike as long as we continue this illegal folly because we now are the bad guys, we are the ones with the torture chambers, destroying lives, and killing innocent civilians, and the whole world is against us, that is except for the blind Sheepole. With that said, I'm not against this country or the troops, I'm against what Bush has done to this great nation.

What do you think?

1. That plan worked so well in Spain
Why does everyone think that a terrorist attack will make the people hungrier for more war? In Spain, it had the exact opposite effect.

Karl Rove is not God. He cannot simply order an event and get the reaction from the people he wants.

I am a betting man, and I say that all this does is increase pressure for a British withdrawal from Iraq and a greater distancing from W.

OP is assuming public opinion is far more predictable than it actually is.

11. from www.etymonline.com
quire (1)
c.1225, "set of four folded pages for a book, pamphlet consisting of a single quire," from Anglo-Fr. quier, O.Fr. quaier, from V.L. *quaternus, from L. quaterni "four each," from quater "four times." Meaning "standard unit for selling paper" first recorded 1393.
quire (2)
early form of choir (q.v.).

5. I think you make a good point.
If Bin Laden's goal was to destory what makes us who we are its working, think of what that single act has done to our own personal freedoms, our governement(now a bunch of loons) etc. He has painted us in the light exactly where he wants us and has done real damage to OUR culture just as we are working to repaint Islamic culture.

Like you said we shouldn't fool ourselves that we are that protected, hell your example of a Topeka walmart is perfect, we are an extremely open country to get into. But as of right now there is nothing to be gained by additional attacks.

6. NATO published this strategy in 1984
only it was about hitting all the soviet client states, not Russia.

In Gen. Hackett's book, there was an interal revolt in the Politburo, and WW3 stopped.

First Spain, now England. If England votes Tony out, and pulls out of Iraq, we will be strained to breaking to staff the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan.

The draft must needs follow.

13. The best defense and wall against terrorist is "good will."
Terrorism is mental "in-sanity." Insanity is mental "im-balance." It is "in-justice" or the "perception" of being the victim of an injustice, real or not, that makes people mentally "im-balanced" and "insane."

The "good will" of "Justice" is "balance." That is why we use the picture of the "scale of balance" for justice.

Terrorist attack what they perceive as the "cause" of the injustice.

If the injustice is "real" than the injustice should be corrected and mental balance restored.

To restore the mental balance of justice is "good will" that is the ultimate "protection."
