or someone will ask why they are so certain we are NOT in danger while Britain just got sandbagged, with a timely belated warning from Israel.
It is hard to explain but every time I hear a terror warning I think it is entirely phony for some political end though anybody should guess it is time to take precautions.

It's crap. It means not a thing because there is no infrastructure in place to make a raise in the terror alert level on mass transit worth anything more than the words spoken!

the entire NYC subway system through 4 boroughs; miles and miles of tracks and tunnels, hundreds of entrances/exits, above ground graitings on city streets, etc.

through 3 or 4 counties, dozens of stations, 100+ miles of track, and thousands of commuters using the system at any given moment.
Like, what are they going to do, put cops in the stations? Someone could get on with a HUGE suitcase and it would be unremarkable, because BART goes to the airport.
Not to mention all the smaller bus services, CalTrain, MUNI, Amtrak, the ferries, all the other smaller light rail systems, the bridges....
Our infrastructure is totally wide open.

For a while there, I thought we lost you. Whether you realize it or not, there has been a major change in your views.
Is it a coincidence that every time Bush needs a boost, the terror meter goes up?

10. Well, frankly, we should be concerned. |
|
For once, there is actually a legitimate reason for a terror alert. There's a first time for everything.
I suspect, however, that terror alerts have reached a level on par with some alerts voiced in a story about a wolf.

but why did it take so long to declare one?
I've seen reports that the British police had up to an hours warning that something was in the wind...that was hours ago here. Why are precautions only being made now?
The delay leads to reasonable doubts about our leaderships competancy...

12. I'd say most of us already had doubts about their competency. |
|
They've never been proactive, and it always seem to take them an inordinate amount of time to react to anything - terrorist activity, natural disaster, school shooting, etc.
