A little perspective on the London bombing
Edited on Thu Jul-07-05 10:31 AM by wtmusic
138 brown-skinned civilians died in Iraq last week alone, thanks to our war of conquest.

2. They do not matter to Christians.
In fact, Billy Grahm recently said that "The war in Iraq does not produce more deaths because THOSE people would have died anyway"

Now, if the topic had been "White babies being aborted" I wonder what his bigoted war mongering ass would have said.

9. That is the underlying sentiment
even among many Americans who don't consider themselves Christians.

When was the last time Americans rushed to donate blood for Iraqis? Solemnly uttered "Today we're all Iraqis"?

btw very surprised about the Billy Graham quote...got a link?

14. Yep, here is where I read it.
It was from a TV interview. You might be able to see a clip of it.

6. I'll agree with you here
Edited on Thu Jul-07-05 10:45 AM by Goldmund
Though I couldn't disagree more with your calls to shut up about causes and implications of this attack, which are inherently political, to call deaths of innocent people "payback" is callous. Those people did nothing to deserve being "paid back".

8. I didn't call for "shutting up about causes and implications"
I am more offended over those who are using death and suffering to advance their own conspiracy theories and other political agendas.

If you cannot see the difference, I cannot help you.

18. Please take that DISGUSTING nonsense somewhere else.
It has no place on a progressive message board.

Those were working class people, not imperialist warmongers.

Sick, sick, sick, sick.

10. With a reported 10% jump in ratings, we'll likely be hearing that refrain
or something like it over and over.

11. I think that was sarcasm.
Considering that Bush uses that line all of the time. I doubt he'll use it any more now that "over there" is no longer just Iraq.

12. sentimentality
Did people really think that our government could simply go over to Iraq, murder well over 100,000 civilians in the most brutal and disgusting ways imaginable, steal their oil and all their state-run resources and there would be zero consequences? Do people beleive that the life of a white skinned Westerner is more valuable than an Arab? Did people ignore the CIA warnings that the most sophisticated training school for world terrorism is now Iraq? Are people living in a bubble and do they now want Fear to rule their lives once again?

It is long since time to learn to keep one's head in this kind of situation and try and put it in context. the Mass media see huge dollars in ventilating mass hysteria here. A new Patriot Act could result and literally all the present business on the table which is of critical importance regarding Rove and the Downey Street Memos could be junked if people push the panic button and go into Halloween mode.
