So is the country going to "rally around Bush" because of the London
bombing? Obviously that is what Bush and especially Rove is hoping for. Are we going to see another, perhaps smaller level, ground swell of support--rallying around the flag and the president like we saw after 9/11?

Your thoughts.

1. Pavlov would say "yes"
Any shred of common sense would imply the opposite.

I don't know, I guess.

2. No, it will only deepen the split.
the 38% of Americans who are fascists will become more violent and strident. The rest will become more sceptical about **.

3. It might sway some who are on the fence
But for the most part, I think it will just harden people in their positions of support or opposition.

4. At best, a short term bump
And i'm not even sure of that. Confidence in the "War on terror" will slide even more. People are not safer.

5. I think no.
His support is crumbling day by day and this will only serve to remind Americans that al-Queda is NOT crippled and it could EASILY happen here.

6. Better effen not!!
With all the money we've spent and all the terrorists we've killed, this type of thing should not happen. They dont know who did it yet, maybe its the IRA. Maybe we should target some terrorist organizations made up of white people instead of brown. How bout some precision bombing of Northern Ireland?

Face it. The idiots of the world run our country's now. They arent interested in ending terrorism, they are interested in perpetuating it.

8. I think people will realize Bush's methods aren't working.
Even though this happened on the other side of the Atlantic, it still hits "close to home" because the UK is our strongest ally.

9. Al CIAda
will never be 'crippled' so long as its creators in various Western intelligence agencies have a need for it to act at opportune moments such as today.

10. When the MSM doesn't allow us to see the opinions of anyone
who isn't a right wing conservative, a supporter of bush's policies -- and I have not seen ONE person on any of the channels who is anything but a right wing nut -- then the ignorant will rally around the only thing they see. If that is bush and the amurkin flag , then some will rally. Sad.

12. The righties will get louder, but I'm not sure any others will
rally around him. I think it's sure going to be harder for him to use the old standby phrase "we're fightin' em over there so we don't have to fight em over here". Doesn't appear to be working, does it George?

16. No.
People are waking up to the bullshit about the Iraq war. This is direct responce to the war.

Bush will try and cap on it, but it's not going fly.

17. I seriously doubt it. Four reasons:
1) The Bush Administration has continually used the old "fight 'em over there so we don't have to fight over here" line to justify their invasion of Iraq. This bombing puts the lie to that claim.

2) People have got terrorist scare fatigue.

3) The Bush team's credibility is already in tatters. People will be more likely to *blame them* for this attack than rally to them.

4) The harshest point: the attack was not inside the USA, so most of Bush's supporters won't really care that much anyway.

18. It is up to us.
We need to remind people that it has been almost four years since 9/11. Bin Laden is still on the loose as are most of his lieutenants, and the terrorists are just as bold and strong as ever.

Bush has failed to defeat the terrorists, and his strategy will not work.

The United States is the most powerful nation on earth, but Bush has divided us and weakened us by committing our military to the quagmire in Iraq.

The United States has the greatest intelligence operation in the world, but Bush has used it to "fix" facts to support his fanatical ideology, not to deal with the terrorists.

The United States has the most powerful military in the world, but Bush has lost the trust of peaceful nations who would normally be our allies in fighting the terrorists.

The United States led the invasion of Afghanistan in response to 9/11, but Bush squandered the opportunity to destroy the terrorist camps and training grounds by protecting Pakistan which has become the central breeding ground for terrorism and by attacking Iraq instead of finishing the job in Afghanistan.

We have to call Bush to answer for his failures and for the corruption of his regime. If terrorist acts as bold as the bombings today can happen in London, they can happen here. London has known terrorism for many years and has taken all kinds of security precautions including locating cameras in public places. If the British laws and security measures have not protected Britain, the Patriot Act and Homeland Security are not going to help us here.

We need a leader who can unite the world to join with us in dealing with the terrorists. Bush is a divider, not a uniter.

We need a leader who is not viewed as being a military opportunist ready to invade any country that he doesn't like or that has something he wants.

We need a leader who inspires the people of the world to focus on peace, cooperation, prosperity and protection of the environment, not endless wars and destruction.

Bush is not the leader we need. We need someone who has more moral strength and sense of right and wrong and more humility than Bush. We need a leader who can lead the world to peace, not to more war.

19. YES OF COURSE, If the response hereabouts is any indication--
with many self-described Democrats and so-called leftists folding up like chairs instead of rising as they should to pin responsibility for the escalation of global terror on terror-mongers #1 GWB and #2 TB

Over a thousand times more innocent people have died in Iraq because of Tony Blair's immeasurably cyncical decision to try to remake Labour into the party that American imperialism can rely on. The Downing Street Memos make this PERFECTLY clear and indisputable.
And now British people are dying in his capital because of it too.

Blair should be removed from office IMMEDIATELY --before the sun rises and sets again. Before still more innocent people die because of his shameless criminality.

Bush should be called out for his escalation of global terror and impeached for the crimes that led to the war.

If we do not do this and try to correct the murderous course these two lying killers have embarked us on, it will be on OUR HEADS. Who will tell the people if we do not? The American media?

Now is not the time for us to be silent or "respectful"-- not while treacherous killers like Blair, Cheney, Bush, Rove, Judith Miller, and Roger Ailes are so furiously at work begining the next phase of the War with Islam.
