I am pretty darned sure that I heard Wes Clark recently predict that
Edited on Thu Jul-07-05 01:41 PM by Gloria
the Iraq mess and the breeding ground created for terror activity there meant that terror acts would be spreading into western Europe.

If I'm wrong, correct me...but I'm positive I heard him say it, maybe even on one of his recent FAUX appearances.

When the British press gets over the shock, I hope they begin to go after Blair for lying along with Bush about Iraq....that's the bottom line...they both created this mess.

2. Nope... you're right...
He said it. He's been a virtual one-man Oracle of Delphi on this whole mess.

6. Recent CIA report says we're training terrorists
http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/special_packages/iraq/12055902.htm

WASHINGTON - Iraq has replaced Afghanistan as the prime training ground for foreign terrorists who could travel elsewhere across the globe and wreak havoc, according to U.S. counterterrorism officials and classified studies by the CIA and the State Department.

Of particular concern, the officials and studies say, are the urban combat techniques being learned and used by foreign fighters assaulting U.S. and Iraqi troops. There's already evidence that those tactics are being replicated elsewhere.

5. This is one thing that pisses me off every time that...
Edited on Thu Jul-07-05 01:44 PM by skypilot
...Bush or one of his dumbass supporters spouts that line about fighting the terrorists "over there so that we don't have to fight them over here". The assholes never stop to think that "over there" is right at Europe's back door and that even if WE don't have to "fight terrorists on our soil" we put Europeans in the position of possibly having to fight on theirs.

9. Unintended consequences.
That same 'over there' policy had Reagan wanting short-range nukes in Germany, facing Soviet short-range nukes in E. Germany. East and West said 'fuck this' and now, 25 years later, united Germany is the heart of the European Union.

I think the 'over there' is MEANT to include Europe, because the entire PNAC program is supposed to keep the US as the sole superpower and a peaceful, united Europe would be a threat to the PNAC agenda.

I'll keep looking!

But, you're right. He said it.

10. Also, after Madrid, some here on DU predicted London would be next
And at the risk of being morose, I think they'll either hit Paris next (because of the French presence in Afghanistan) or the US again.

14. It was posted by FrenchieCat and titled "Wes Clark was prescient
again with his 6/28/05 comments on Faux news"

"This was Clark's first appearance on Hannity and Colmes, in where he responded to Bush's "speech".
Here's the link to the speech response:
http://www.dembloggers.com/story/2005/6/28/193046/998

saying that Bush didn't answer a lot of questions that needed to be answered, that he didn't explain why car bombings have gone up, noting that there is no connection between 9/11 and Iraq, that this was an elective war that Bush chose to fight, that more and better trained terrorists are moving out of Iraq and into Europe and are plotting other attacks
