Conversation between Bush and Blair |
|
Edited on Thu Jul-07-05 03:18 PM by Meldread
Blair: Damn it, George! This is all your fault! You said that if we went into Iraq that they'd all stay down there!
Bush: Calm down. Calm down. I'm tryin' ta think.
Blair: I don't think my people are going to be as dumb as yours. They might actually blame me.
Bush: Alright. I've got it. We need to bury this story. Do ya'll have any sharks or missing white girls 'round here?
---
Okay, a lame attempt at some humor in a trying time. In all seriousness, I wonder what Bush told Blair and what Blair told Bush?

I really am not sure how the British people will react. It is easy for us to sit back and say "They'll be level headed about this. They won't do anything rash..."
But then again, I remember my reaction after 9-11. I'm a very non-violent person, but I wanted revenge! I think that's a natural reaction - to get back for the hurt and loss... whether it's right or wrong...
Here's hoping rational thought wins the day! :|

3. I don't know what their reaction will be. |

However, if I had to take an educated guess I would probably think that there would be an even larger public outcry (perhaps with force and threats involved) to get British troops out of Iraq. After all, that appears to be the driving motivation behind the attacks. There may even be a push to cut ties with America on the War on Terrorism. Others might want to seek vengeance, although I don't think it'd be a very sizeable crowd.
Either way Blair is in hot water.
I remember 9/11 like it was yesterday. I was down in Orlando Florida. Bush was in Florida at the time as well. I had just waken up and had CNN on at the time. A few moments later the first plane hit the tower. Then the second. And I remember saying, "Damn it. We're under attack. Terrorists are attacking America."
Then I remember the police officers and firemen. I remember saying, "Good god don't go near those buildings they are gonna fall." And... they did.
I was with my aunt, sister, father and mother. We were on vacation at the time. I didn't wanna go out that day because I wanted to stay glued to the TV and watch what was happening... they practically dragged me out. We went to Universal Studios. I took a head set and a radio so I could listen to what was happening. I remember Disney didn't want to shut down Universal Studios or Disney Land and the public was pretty upset. We showed up to Universal and got in, went on a few rides... and about two or three hours later they shut the place down for fear of an attack.
Although, I can't say that I lost my cool. I was shocked more than anything. I never advocated for swift action, I agreed with the war in Afghanistan although I would have preferred if we went in with a better plan. I wanted to catch Osama and the terrorist network there. Not so much for revenge but rather for justice. I never really felt thirsty for revenge.
