'Islamic Extremists' Misquote Quran
http://www.michaelmoore.com/words/index.php?id=3242

But MSNBC TV translator Jacob Keryakes, who said that a copy of the message was later posted on a secular Web site, noted that the claim of responsibility contained an error in one of the Quranic verses it cited. That suggests that the claim may be phony, he said.

1. That's definitely not something Al Qaeda would do.
The Quran is not like the Bible, by which I mean it wouldn't be an accident of translation, since the Quran is not translated traditionally, and is taught and memorized in Arabic. There aren't multiple translations and transliterations as there are with various biblical translations.

So while I still believe the attacks are Al Qaeda based on the multiple coordinated attacks, I don't think that responsibility claim is credible in the least.

3. Why does everyone assume AQ is few of scholars?
I assume they are just as capable of misquoting things as anyone else.

4. I totally agree, but....
Misquoting the Qur'an is NOT something that is done by such groups.

The website has since been taken down...

curiouser and curiouser

6. Most of the people that gravitate toward Al Qaeda
spend years doing nothing more than memorizing the Quran.

It has nothing to do with "scholars" but with the mentality of fundamentalism.

I doubt seriously that anyone associated with Al Qaeda would misquote the Quran.

7. Because Christian hate groups don't spend hours daily rocking
back and forth over their Bibles memorizing them word for word as the students at Madrasas and other schools which are one of the primary sources for Al Qaeda recruiting do.

And, as I already mentioned, there are not numerous translations with varying degrees of accuracy of the Quran as there are with the Bible.

It is VERY unlikely that Al Qaeda would misquote the Quran. Misinterpret what it teaches definitely, but misquote it, not likely.

5. al-qaida my ass

"The Secret Organization of al-Qaida in Europe.” More like the "Secret Anti-war/We Hate Blair" group.

But I suppose they will fix the facts so that all can attack Iran and live terrorist free for the rest of our lives. *sigh*

9. AND they take their religion VERY seriously
and their grammar. It's not a mistake a real Islamic terrorist would have made....at least that's what a friend told me she heard on a news report from this some lady translator.

11. True-- for according to Muslims
the Qur'an is the revelation of God, through the angel Gabriel (Allah via Jibril) to Muhammad.

In other words-- we're not talking a history, a narrative, etc.

We're talking the final message.

What does one take w/ this?

1) God chose to reveal his final message in Arabic
2) Hence, Arabic-- key language
3) God does not screw up grammar
4) Hence, the grammar of the Qur'an is impeccable
5)Centuries of scholars have memorized Qur'an
6) Early grammarians based their study of Arabic on Qur'anic Arabic

In other words-- someone made a bigass typo booboo or its totally bogus.
