Eyewitness reports from London this evening.

There was a terror alert around West End Lane in north London, but that has not turned out to be anything important.

Mrs Taxloss and I went out to the pub for a drink earlier - I can report that the pubs and restaurants in this part of SW1 are FULL of people. There is no mood of shock.

Police vans are still howling around, and we can still hear helicopters; we saw one mounting the pavement rather dramatically.
