Do you see your impressions of today's events reflected on the TV news?

Television coverage of the London bombings has turned into a freep fest.I realize that at this hour they have to rehash the day's events for the working class viewers, but the summary of coverage on all of the programs I have watched have that rah rah tone that leans towards the same knee jerk patriotism that led folks into initially supporting the Iraq invasion. There's a profound lack of critical thinking, and critical thinkers, on the network and cable coverage. More to the point, there is virtually no criticism of Bush, his intelligence and security systems (that he spent billions on and which appears to have been caught flat-footed, again), just the likely winger suspects spouting their revisionist smaltz about comparisons to 9-11.

I know that Londoners are resilient and will weather this tragedy with dignity and courage. I welcome those expressions of solidarity and support that are being broadcast. I just wish that we could turn the corner and start paying attention to our country's peacemakers who readily acknowledge Bush's complicity in today's state of affairs, rather than giving all of the airplay to the same bunch of Bush/Blair apologists who cheerled us into the rathole we're in now with their slack-jawed militarism.

3. I also remember a lot of discussion after the bombings in Madrid

of how the "voters gave in to the terrorists" by getting rid of Aznar and electing Zapatero.
It would be nice if the same thing happened in the UK. And of course in the US as well...

None of what they say makes sense. This bombing if it is truly an Islamist action, is the proof that their policies are utter failure.
But on the other hand, who knows what this bombing really is, since they are using it to their own absurd ends like they use September 11th 2001...

4. The giving in stuff was stupid on its face...

...Aznar lost because he tried to blame the bombing on Basque separatists when it became obvious within a day or two that they were not involved.

Without that lie, Aznar likely wins a squeaker.

war with Iraq by our leaders who insisted that removing Saddam would make us safer, you would think that we would have had some forewarning about this . . . or not, considering the source.
