Richard Clarke-- the voice of reason |
|
He's on ABC saying that Bush's stance on "we have to fight them over there so we don't have to fight them here," isn't working--obviously. This needs to be said over and over by the MSM.

2. What's most disturbing about that statement. |
|
Is that it's not only wrong, but insulting. As we've seen today (and will no doubt see again), fighting them in Iraq, a completely unrelated country (at least 3 years ago it was), won't stop them from attacking elsewhere.
It's also insulting, disrespectful, and just generally vile. What the Bush people are ultimately saying is that we should send our troops far away to act as targets, so that they leave us alone here.
I'll never understand why more Americans don't see that.

3. Richard Clarke will be on Nightline tonight |
|
their email: The Difference a Day Makes
July 7, 2005
They're the worst attacks on London since World War II. As the horror of the London bombings sinks in, we again ask, how can a person justify the taking of innocent life?
Tonight on "Nightline," two counterterrorism specialists and a former Irish terrorist explore the motivation for these attacks and how to end the cycle of violence. David Ervine, leader of Northern Ireland's Progressive Unionist Party, spent five years in prison for driving a car that contained a bomb. He'll engage former CIA analyst Michael Scheuer, who wrote two books warning about the threat of terrorism under the name "Anonymous," and Richard Clarke, the former counterterrorism czar at the White House, an ABC News consultant.
It's a conversation you won't hear elsewhere today.
We'll have a report on how London is coping with the bombings, a day after it rejoiced when picked to host the 2012 Olympic Games.
Richard Harris and the "Nightline" Staff Senior Producer ABC News Washington Bureau

Richard Clarke is a good man. He is very knowledgeable about terrorism. Of course, he was blasted as a "liberal" from the Right because he dared to take a stance that was somewhat contrary to George W. Bush.
