Odious Radio poll..call for action...violence against women
The poll was "would you rather wake up knowing you just beat a woman, or had gay sex?

NO, this is not a poll I was involved in, it was on a local, Oklahoma station radio show. The email I received has asked for a call to action. Whether you are in Oklahoma or not, please read, and if able react! Contact info is included. Of course this a Clear Channel station!

Here is the email (I think I am allowed to copy an entire email...if not, mods, please make needed corrections):

This note is a call to action!

We need your help today. It has come to the attention of the RRDP that Mo on 97.5 The Buzz is promoting violence against women. On June 29th his show asked callers to call in and describe which they would prefer - waking up in the morning having beaten a woman or had gay sex. The show went downhill from there with callers stating all sorts of inflammatory statements against women.

For example, one caller stated that he would "rather beat a woman than be a woman." Another caller had an eloquent answer: "Well, I choose beat a woman because I can think of reasons to beat a woman, and I couldn't think of a reason to have gay sex." For more examples, listen to Mo's demo at DJ's demo.

This is but one example of the extremely hateful comments Mo had made against women and the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transsexual community on his weekday morning show. If this inflames your righteous indignation come demand a change at noon on July 8, 2005 on the grass on the north side of 50 Penn Place, Oklahoma City. We are asking for a sincere on-air apology for "The Buzz" every hour for 24 hours, as well as a verbal commitment not to make such statements in the future. The station must show their support of the programs in our community that fight the violence that Mo has promoted, by donating at least a $1,000 to the Oklahoma City YWCA to help them fight against domestic abuse and sexual assault..

Spread the word! In the coming days you can go to our website and sign the petition calling for changes at "The Buzz" and find email addresses where you can send emails expressing you unhappiness with this type of disrespect for women. "The Buzz" is owned by Clear Channel Communications, Inc. You can visit their website and find officers of the company at Clear Channel Communications Inc.

Don't delay in sending your messages of outrage to the officers of Clear Channel and join us on July 8th to protest this unsavory behavior of DJ - Mo!

Red River Democracy Project appreciates your continued support of our programs. We are updating the website and working to support the issues important of you. Please email us with your suggestions of issues that we should address. Red River can continue their grassroots work with the support of progressives like yourself. {Took out donation request}

Thanks for any help!
