Netanyahu story now on AP / Yahoo
Edited on Fri Jul-08-05 12:20 AM by Must_B_Free
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20050707/ap_on_re_mi_ea/israel_britain_explosions_1

don't know if it is credible or if they are just repeating the story from UPI/Moonies.

dated 7:14 AM, odd that this story was out there that fast...

one comment on the message board:
Yahoo board linked to 2 stories...

one states:
"After the first explosion, our finance minister received a request not to go anywhere," Finance Minister Silvan Shalom told Israel Army Radio.

the other doesn't mention the above quote.

1. More recent accounts make it clear that there was no pre-explosion warning
That story is stale and unreliable.

4. Isn't Yahoo a credible source?
It's used in LBN all the time.

5. it seems to lend credibility, but it really just points to other sources.

I would want to somewhat trust AP, but:

1. look at the detail pointed out in my OP
2. first reply also thinks it is debunked
3. the overall story of the bombings is fraught with innacurate information early on. Last night it was just "power surges", then when I wake up it was finally called what it is.
4. it could just be reprinting what it got from UPI (Rev. Moon), so who knows what disinformation he might want to foment.

6. Yahoo takes their info from AP & Reuters 99% of time...so I'd say yes it
is, unless we are to say that neither AP or Reuters are credible too?

I think this is a very interesting story....Interesting indeed...So Netanyahu was warned in advance....and I thought the British intelligence had no prior warnings? Hmmmm....

7. According To Mr. Skinner, Sir
Apparently in the confusion after the blast, the original AP
story was not correct. It has since been corrected, and it
looks as if the Israeli embassy was not notified until after
the attacks began. Here is a link to the updated story:

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20050707/ap_on_re_mi_ea/israel_britain_explosions_3

The matter is closed with that, in this forum.

13. So which story is it? That he was in his hotel room when warned or on his
way in the car? That it was after the first explosion as he was in the hotel room or in the car on his way?

Why the insistance that this matter is closed with that....

Seriously, this seems really weird and inconsistent, not just on the AP, but from you and the DU higher ups...

I didn't post anything as "latest breaking news"....I didn't start this thread....I merely find this information very interesting and I thought that the discrepancies merit discussion....

Just because things are "updated" doesnt' make it correct now...We are all too familiar with many revisions made by the gov't higher ups that end up actually changing the details....

We should be able to discuss this without having a Mod step in and "shut the matter up"....

11. That Is The Origin Of The Story, Ma'am
It has been in circulation here since early this morning. You will note the imprecission of attribution: "quoting unconfirmed reliable sources." That is a frank confession of rumor-mongering at best. The paper is well known down in the Israel v. Palestine forum, long a haunt of mine: it is a rightist rag on a level with the New York Post, with a well earned reputation for strident innaccuracy in its reporting.

12. Story been debunked
as is, lets play a game of what if, traffic, that is diplomatic traffic, does not move at the speed of the internet, not even today.

But it has been debunked

What is more the place carrying the story... reminds me more of... Debka which is everything but reliable.

14. Curious
I was up a 5:00 AM EST yesterday and this was one of the first stories to hit soon after the attacks happened. How did they even know that Netanyahu was in London, no less what hotel he was in and what he was doing? It might be nice for Netanyahu to make his own statement regarding his situation.
