Galloway: Attacks will not be last
Anti-Iraq war campaigners were gathering to give their response to the terrorist outrages in London the morning after a bitter Commons row engulfed the cause's most outspoken politician. George Galloway was accused by a senior minister of "dipping his poisonous tongue in a pool of blood" after the Respect MP for Bethnal Green and Bow warned that the attacks in the capital will not be the last.

The outspoken former Labour MP swiftly hit back at his accuser, armed forces minister Adam Ingram, likening him to a "foul-mouthed ... thug". Deputy Speaker Sylvia Heal had to intervene, reminding the House that "good temper and moderation" were the hallmarks of language in the Commons. Mr Galloway was due to be joined this morning by veteran peace campaigner Tony Benn, as well as CND chairwoman Kate Hudson, for a Stop the War Coalition press conference in central London. It follows a statement from the organisation on Thursday which condemned the terrorist attacks but also urged people not to stir up any anti-Muslim "hysteria".

A spokesman said: "It is clear that the war on terror, in which Britain has been so heavily involved, has not made the world safer from terrorism. Britain's security services warned Tony Blair two years ago that a war in Iraq would make such attacks more likely. That warning has been tragically borne out." Before his Commons spat with Mr Ingram, Mr Galloway said in his own statement that Londoners had "paid the price" for Mr Blair's decision to go to war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

He called on the Prime Minister to remove people in the UK from "harm's way" by withdrawing British troops from Iraq. In his later clash with the armed forces minister, Mr Galloway accused MPs of living in a "consensual bubble" of denial and said unless action was taken, there would be repeats of Thursday's atrocity in the capital. "There was nothing unpredictable about this attack this morning. Despicable, yes, but not unpredictable. Entirely predictable and, I predict, not the last either," he said.

Time to put away the niceties and get down to the nitty gritty of Bush and Blair's Folly and what it has wrought. Time is a'wastin' and lives on British and US soil are at stake.

3. UK needs him where he is!
Remember that there is no formal political opposition to the war since the Tories (UK RW keyboard warriors) love * and his fucked up WOT even more than Labour.

That only leaves an antiwar movement consisting of renegade MP:s and NGO:s to keep up the pressure and try to counter all the stay-the-course-spin from the officials.

Luckily, they are progressing inch by inch in their struggle to educate and inform the UK public. But I am quite sure the horrific attack in London will not lead to the downfall of Bliar or the government since there are no alternative. Also, UK have lived with the Terrorist threat for decades.

5. Well, what the hell do they expect him to say?
is it now considered good going for a politician to bury their heads in the sand when they see a problem? If you believe that these attacks are motivated by our presence in Iraq, and I don't see how that is an unacceptable view, what are you meant to say anyway? Honestly, Galloway couldn't have played more of a straught bat to all this if he'd tried - Ingram's respose smacks of hysteria.

7. I saw George Galloway on TV last night
but I don't recall which program or even which channel it was because I was surfing through the various news reports. He was unusually subdued, and soft spoken for him. He even looked a bit pale, and considering George is usually perma-tanned, it was disconcerting to see. He appeared very shaken and upset by yesterday's events.

9. This man knows what he is talking about
He echos my sentiments exactly.

I never believed this "war on terror" would eliminate terrorism. I actually believed it might make matters worse. I hoped I was having a tin-foil hat episode.

Like Galloway I was right.
