Hunt for bombers under way after 37 die in London carnage

(AFP)

8 July 2005

LONDON - A massive hunt was underway Friday for the bombers who blew up a double-decker bus and wrought carnage in underground trains in London, slaughtering at least 37 people and injuring more than 700. Prime Minister Tony Blair promised to track down the perpetrators of the worst terror attack ever in Britain.

“There, of course, will now be the most intense police and security service action to make sure we bring those responsible to justice,” the grim-faced British leader told the nation in a televised address. snip

Three explosions tore apart packed underground trains and one peeled the top off a number 30 double decker bus in 56 minutes of morning mayhem on Thursday.

Although anti-terrorist investigators said it was too early to speculate, several British newspapers were convinced that the attack on the bus had been the work of a suicide bomber.

1. At least he's bipedal
which is more than we can say for Bush.

3. He looks really lonely in that photo.
If I could stand him at all, I might feel sorry for him.

But I can't, so I won't.

8. You know, I still don't hate him.
I realize he's been a patsy for Bush, but I do remember how good he was when Clinton was president and I thought he showed great backbone yesterday by returning to London to be with his people, which is more than Chimpy did.

I don't know - maybe I give him the least little benefit of the doubt because he's actually articulate, cultured and intelligent - unlike our "leader."

6. Maybe he's doing the math: 100,000 in Iraq divided by 37 in London...
Tony and George ought to consider the pain in London now, or in the US on 9/11/01, and *try* to multiply the pain, fear, despair, retributive hate to imagine what they have inflicted upon Iraq, and why we're not safer because of their war.
