Poll question: How big of a drop/bump will bush*'s numbers get?
Edited on Fri Jul-08-05 05:22 AM by radfringe
We heard many comparisons of London bombing to 9-11. And many uses of the new buzzword "resolve"

bush*'s avarage disapproval number is at 50.7% ( http://www.realclearpolitics.com/polls.html )

how big of a bump or drop will he get out of the London bombing?

other questions for you:

1. Will he use this as justification for invading Iran/Syria?
2. Will any Dem ask 'where's bin-laden?'
3. Will this improve bush*'s numbers specifically regarding Iraq?

1. Bush will get a moderate bump
Edited on Fri Jul-08-05 04:47 AM by NewJeffCT
Our media is already playing up the fear factor and when people are afraid & don't think, they tend to approve of Bush more. But, since it took place on foreign soil, it's not as big a bump as he'd get here.

4. I agree to a moderate bump
but it won't last. Especially with the spinning going on about Iraq - why are we really in there? To find WMDs? To liberate Iraqi's? or to fight Terrorism?

so while we are all tied up in knots in Iraq - bin-laden is still running around blowing up other places....

positive.

2. "numbers will drop"
You must believe in the tooth fairy too... we still have two solid weeks of 24 hour coverage/spinnage to go thru.

Wait until Rush Limpball is done with this one.

13. shock effect of London bombing
granted the bombing in London is going to effect bush*'s numbers

initially I think he will get a bump out of this - mostly due to "shock" effect response. How big and how long it lasts is going to depend on what comes out of his mouth next.

London bombing is a bit more removed from the American psyche than 9-11. If you noticed the stock markets yesterday - there was some initial "panic", gold went up by $4.00 in under 15 minutes - then things leveled off and markets closed on an "up note" - basically there was a couple of hours "waiting for shoe to drop" in a US subway, then a sigh of relief when it didn't happen - back to "biddness" as usual

London does bring about the question of "are we really safer?" After all England is fighting along with us in Iraq so we don't have to fight terrorists at home. Yet, those same terrorists did bring their war to London. So how long before they cross the ocean blue and do the same here (again)?

The GOP choir sang several choruses of "We're safer today" during the 2004 campaigns - but are we really safer?

has invading Iraq made us safer? Why are we in Iraq anyways? and most of all -- WHERE's BIN-LADEN? Why isn't bush* "hunting them down"? Once we get through the spin, endless blather and wag-the-flag falderal - perhaps these questions will be asked.

Do I expect an honest, truthful answer from the bushies? No - just more spin and blather. However - asking these questions will get some more people really thinking - and that's when his numbers will start to slide again.

3. I'm sure their will be a few Dems that ask "where the fuck is Bin Laden?"
We are not safer and this tragedy on highlights the failures of Bush's war on terror.

Fuck the media, they will say his ass got a huge bump, for what might I ask? Falling of his god damn bike. Any poll that has Bush over 40% is full of shit.

Get out there and talk to people, write some letters to the editor. Scream where is Bin Laden at the top of your lungs.

Then talk about Valerie Plame, Karl Rove and the DSM. They are all connected in this maladminstrations web of lies, tell people the truth. Tell everyone the truth even if they don't want to hear it.

If you aren't talking to your republican friends and family about this then you are not doing your part.

5. 4.Will the sheeple notice that a criminal investigation is under way in
the UK, evidence is being collected, and a search is on for the person(s) who committed these senseless acts of violence...
in contrast to the knee-jerk, yeehaw reaction of our "fearless leaders"...who went out of their way to block the investigation and destroyed evidence???

9. Bush's bumps keep getting smaller and smaller.
Too bad the bumps he is putting up his nose are getting larger and larger.

8. Don't know.
1. He'll try.
2. Are you asking about democratic voters or democratic congressional representatives? Some representatvies will undoubtedly ask, but too many will not.
3. Who knows? He's done a pretty good job of hiding all the bodies, all the facts, and wrapping himself in a flag.

12. Maybe you're correct...
...this is just a convenient distraction for the administration.

Bush's numbers may not move but I bet this keeps the numbers from falling off the chart like they were headed with the DSM and the more recent Rove build up.

14. I agree
Edited on Fri Jul-08-05 05:40 AM by MissWaverly
My neighbor said that if the terrorists come here, then we fight them, but that he was tired of listening to terror, terror, terror on the tv and radio. He said that it's not going to control his life and he is going to move on with his life. I agree, I am tired of the rhetoric which seems to be a rationale for the GOP to run amok w/o any real impact on our safety, our borders are unsecured and Osama remains at large.

15. I say "small bump" for the following reason:
Most of the people who see this as some sort of justification for "staying the course" are already Bush supporters. There may be a small bump (3-4 points) that will disappear within a month or two.

17. It's no secret that the republican party exploit terrorist attacks for
political gain. This attack was on the other side of the ocean and most people in the US have no idea where London is or that the the world is round. I don't think this attack will have any effect on Bush approval ratings...

18. He will get a bump
The red state minds that were beginning to question the motives behind the Iraq war will now rally behind him. The talk radio they pollute their feeble minds with will whip them up.

19. bump, as usual...
The American media will pump up people's fears, until the Dem message gets out and people realize how Bush/Blair are not protecting us.
