The president is abroad, a terrorist attack occurs on an ally and the VP
is nowhere to be seen. C. Rice is calling all the shots. Wouldn't the next in line to manage domestic issues in the wake of an attack like this be the vice president?

Has anyone seen or heard any news reports indicating that Cheney is stepping up in his role?

And WTF isn't this news, for heaven's sake?

:wtf:

MKJ

BTW, Props to TheDebbieDee, who first posed this question yesterday. Still no answer, though.

2. Does this relate to
The story a week or so ago in Huffington's website about Cheney checking into a hospital in Vail CO for a few hours ??? Seems like Cheney might be "recouperating" from some undisclosed cardiac event!. Of course, the Bush administration will not ever tell us the truth about any of this. Don't you all think it's a bit strange that we haven't even had a camera up to his Wyoming Ranch to take his pic, get his comments, and have him answer a few questions?

Oh, I see, a major terrorism attack in the world, in a country where Bush is located, and Cheney needs his privacy and rest???

Hmmm! That just doesn't compute!

19. That's very possible!
It is VERY strange that the reporters aren't hanging out at his ranch like they do in Crawford. Very interesting point. Hmmm. COVER UP!

3. is that where they buried him?
It is hard to imagine that he would blow an opportunity like the bombings in London for any other reason but death.

5. I didn't THINK about THAT coincidence!
But hey, maybe Bush has an announcement to make along with announcing his next two supreme court nominees!

12. That would be wild, wouldn't it?
Cheney resigning due to alleged heart condition (i.e. impending criminal charges for outing a CIA agent) and Bush appointing Guiliani as VP?

:wow:

8. I thought I was the only one thinking this.
Fer chrissakes, Cheney practically ran the US on 9/11. You'd think he would have poked his head out of his bunker to let us know all is well.

10. Cheney to Get High-Tech Pacemaker Exam
WASHINGTON -- Vice President Dick Cheney will undergo a routine exam Friday to check the condition of a high-tech pacemaker that was placed in his chest in June 2001.

Cheney spokeswoman Lea Anne McBride said the tests at George Washington University Medical Center would include a physical exam, an electrocardiogram, an echocardiogram and a stress test. The vice president planned to be back at work later in the day, she said.

"It's a routine physical," she said. She said the vice president also would have a colonoscopy later this month.

Cheney has had four heart attacks, though none as vice president. His last checkup was in May 2004, and determined that his pacemaker, called an implantable cardioverter defibrillator, was working fine and had never had to be activated.

13. It's all part of Condi's evil plan.
VP laspses into coma during med procedure, Prez gets whacked by terrorists, it's starting to sound like a Clancy novel. Speaker of the House better watch his ass, and if Jack Ryan turns up, it's definitely time to duck and cover!
