There was 4/19, 9/11, 3/11, and now 7/7.. 7/11 has significance too |
|
since we are a nation of Gamblers.. We gambled that the "W.O.T." (war on terra)would be successful..we love our casinos..we gambled that a moron could lead the country (we LOST that one bigtime)..we gamble daily, that somehow, we will manage to avoid nuclear anihillation..
The terra-ists seem to be figuring out all our nuances, while we seem to think they have none..
7-eleven has me a bit worried, and I will be glad to see 7-12.

1. Over there, it's "11/7". |
|
They put the day first over there.
Their "9-1-1" is "9-9-9"

2. Funny you would say that. That date popped into my head too, but |
|
I don't know why. I certainly am no psychic. I feel the same way you do I'll be glad when that day passes.

Mrs Taxloss' family comes from Hong Kong. In Cantonese superstition, 7 and 5 are both deeply unfortunate numbers, and this is an inauspicious year.

6. Interesting theory, we'll have to see. |
|
"Come all you pretty women with your hair a hanging down Open up your windows cause the Candyman's in town. Come on boys and gamble, roll those laughing bones, Seven come eleven, boys I'll take your money home. Look out, look out the Candyman Here he comes and he's gone again. Pretty lady ain't got no friend til the Candyman comes around again, around again." Grateful Dead, Candyman.
It is only a matter of time before we get hit again. We've started an illegal, immoral war, and to add insult to injury, endorsed the asshole who started the war by re-electing him in '04. We can't expect to come out of this mess unbloodied. Terrorism is the poor man's way of waging war against a stronger opponent. We can expect to be hit again here, hard.
Sad to say, that will play right into Bushco's hands. Martial law, and the final shredding of the Constitution will result, and probably much worse. And gee, then the terrorists will have won, transforming this once great republic into a fascist dictatorship, with freedom for none.

7. media tags, just like "gate" |
|
for twenty years every scandal was tagged with the "-gate" suffix. so now we are tagging significant events with their dates, how dramatic. pretty soon anything worth media coverage will be "dated".
i'm not playing along.

8. You getting that tingle too? |
|
I was going to post on this, but my posts have bricks tied to them. 7 come 11, yeah it's got me worried as well, I can't think of a damn thing that's been done to make us any safer. Actually we are more susceptible to an attack now. not by air, they've done that, trains, busses, crowded sports arenas, the list goes on and on. I'll feel much better when I wake up next Tuesday and nothing has happened, I'm going to keep my fingers crossed and my eyes and ears open.

10. Odd isn't it? We promote "pro-active"wars..but practice RE-active security |
|
AFTER airliners were used, we have poured Mega-bucks into a tactic that was used 'successfully' by terrorists, and probabably would never be used again. Their 'next' attacks will be on a different weakness in our security, NOT one that we have beefed up..(although it's not all that much safer in reality)..
Their tactics are innovative, so who knows what they will try next..

What significance is attached to 7/11? The only thing that comes to mind for me is the convenience store.

12. Most of the 7-11s here have disappeared... |
|
The 7-11 I was thinking about referred to the fact that Americans love to gamble, and "7-11" is a gambling icon
