One simple way to honor Andy. . .

On a whim I just sent this e-mail to ABC's "This Week."

To Whom it May Concern

I really appreciate the fact that you consistently honor those American lives lost in Iraq and Afghanistan more than any other network news show.

Another warrior sadly lost his battle with complications from pancreatic surgery last evening. He was a warrior, not in the so-called "war on terror," but in the uphill battle for verified voting in defense of our democracy.

His name was Andy Stephenson and he was a hero to many on the internet and a leader in the struggle to have greater accountability in our voting systems and true election reform. The support he received from the online community during his medical struggle was overwhelmingly moving.

You spend so much time speculating on elections, candidates, and polls, and no time whatsoever concentrating on the fact that the integrity of each and every vote has been severely compromised in the last several national elections.

Please consider affirming his selfless dedication and life's work by including him in your "In Memoriam" tribute segment of your show.

I can't think of a better way to remember him today than to remember what he was fighting for (VVPB) and against (pancreatic cancer without health insurance). Nominated.

I was on the fence about incorporating his lack of health insurance. Hopefully someone else will. The reason I didn't was I remembered his presurgical plea. It went something like (paraphrasing), "If I don't make it through just remember four words, voter verified paper ballots."

Didn't at all intend to minimize the dire stresses he had to endure with all the financing crapola though.

Someone responded to me in the Andy Condolences thread and the post was deleted. Did you happen to catch any of that. I would love to know who could have something nasty to say about someone who is trying to say something polite and comforting in response to a death.

We may not get the major networks attention, but perhaps if we all sent letters to the editor about him, his cause, VOTER VERIFIABLE PAPER BALLOTS (not trails!!) perhaps he can have our voice heard, and carry on his cause.

16. I am going to write this to my paper

I am not coherent enough to put this together just yet - still stunned by the news - but here is basically what I plan to write:

I am thinking to carry on his fight about writing a letter to the editor in
honor of his memory and talk about what he was fighting for, and that I will
be voting on a voter verifiable paper ballot next election, specifically an
absentee ballot.

added the somewhat facetious "so-called" part but that phrase just makes my skin crawl when all war is terror.

"War is the terrorism of the rich. Terrorism is the war of the poor."

We'll all be poor soon enough with taxation without representation which is what we have without V V P B's.

Besides "You can't have a war on an abstract noun."
