READER VIEW: 'VIETIRAQ' FOSTERS TERRORISM

"We fight them there so we don't have to fight them here." This cliche from Bushworld didn't help our allies in Madrid or London, and it won't save us in here. George Bush is directly responsible for the upsurge in global terrorism. He failed miserably in stopping al-Qaida in Afghanistan, and now violence there is at a two-year high. He pulled out the troops who could have gotten the job done and illegally invaded a country that had no terrorists, based on lies. He has turned Iraq into the training ground for world terrorism, and his policies are incapable of defeating it. For every insurgent we kill, three take his place.

MORE THIS IS GREAT and from Kansas even

5. Go Winfield!
Here is my husbands letter from yesterdays paper here in Topeka. He sure got a lot of angry calls from this one.

Impeach Bush

The argument that "if we fight them there, we won't have to here," is not only specious, unproven and lacking in logic, it is actually stupid.

The folks who have the means and skills to attack us here are not the 20-year-old jihadists entering Iraq from surrounding countries. They are the folks that Bush has not only failed to capture, but even claimed were not important anymore. They are the lieutenants of someone who doesn't even merit mention by Bush unless he finds it convenient to quote him, thereby legitimizing him.

The real fight is in Afghanistan and mountainous areas of the Waziristan provinces of Pakistan. The real bogeymen are bin Laden, Zawahiri, and crew. Nothing we are doing in Iraq has any bearing whatsoever on those people's desire or ability to attack us on U.S. soil. Bush has failed utterly in the real mission, unless his real mission is to get himself and his cronies rich on Pentagon contracts and skimmed, unused reconstruction money.

He has succeeded wildly with that. Meanwhile, the Taliban get stronger every day, the pipelines of money and supplies to and from bin Laden's people get bigger and more efficient, the Muslim world hates us more and more, and we gradually dismantle our own economy and constitutional rights fighting a quagmire based on a depraved lie. Bush should be impeached for both crimes and for incompetence. I just don't see it any other way. The truth stands before us, impatiently, with folded arms, tapping its toe. And the clock is ticking.

10. Great letter, except
I wouldn't call the racist Minutemen, Patriotic volunteers. They're a bunch of bigots who just want to keep them there Mexicans and ragheads out of our country. :( Otherwise, a great letter. :hi:

Here is a possible solution. Do what Nixon did to get us out of Vietnam: Declare "mission accomplished" (again), put the troops on planes, and bring them back for real homeland security. Seal our borders instead of counting on American patriotic volunteers to do it.
