B-1 Bob Dornan has always been a few fries short of a happy meal
but now he's gone totally moonbat loony!

CALIFORNIA: The return of "B-1 Bob." Bombastic radio talk show host and former Congressman Bob Dornan (R) appears poised to enter the special election contest this fall for the seat being vacated when Congressman Chris Cox (R) leaves office to become the next SEC Chairman. Dornan previously served in Congress from 1977-83 (gave up his seat to make a primary bid for US Senate), and 1985-97 (defeated for re-election in 1996), made a quixotic bid for President in 1996, and lost bids to return to Congress in 1998 and 2004. During his DC days, Dornan was known to engage in red-faced screaming matches with opponents and occasionally challenge liberal colleagues to fistfights. These days Dornan, 72, lives in Virginia but keeps his voter registration in California. According to the Los Angeles Times, Dornan plans to jump into the race for Cox's seat as the candidate of the ultra-conservative American Independent Party (the state affiliate of the Constitution Party).

2. great news, if he goes in the general election, along with the repug
he's got enough name recognition to be a factor, I hope

I have some pictures of him and his family that I took in front of the Lincoln Memorial, when the pukes did their tiny pro invasion rally the weekend after the invasion (March 20 week, 03)

I talked to him awhile, and asked him what he thought about his friend, Al Franken, with whom he'd appeared quite a few times

he said something to the effect that Al had 'gone off the deep end' concerning this new holy war

pretty ironic, since Franken's most famous quote about Dornan (with which he publicly endorsed) had to do with the tenuous nature of Dornan's own mental health

B-1 Bob crawling from under his rock to run for office again?

My favorite stuff about Dornan (that I can think of right now):

(1) He once made a speech to Hispanic voters in Orange County, after Loretta Sanchez beat his sorry ass. He learned a few Spanish words and was trying to say something like, "I love Hispanics big time!" He used the literal translation--"grande tiempe"--so nobody in the audience understood what the hell he meant. They just stood there, staring at him blankly.

(2) In another attempt to woo Hispanic voters, he passed out a campaign brochure with the Virgin Of Guadalupe on the outside...and extremely graphic, gory abortion photos inside. Mixing the two didn't sit well at all with his potential voters.

(3) The LA TIMES got a letter once from a woman who identified herself as a life-long Repub.

She went to B-1's local office asking for help with a problem--the sort of constituent stuff a Congressman normally does.

A Dornan staffer subjected her to a bizarre anti-gay rant and ignored the issue she had come to complain about.

When Sanchez got in, the woman called her office and her problem was fixed in no time.

The writer noted that she had just switched her party affiliation to Dem.

4. He was the idiot that said the Internet was a good example...

of how private sector research and development was SO MUCH
BETTER than government sponsored programs.

The irony was sublime.
