I'll pay for a clean environment
Edited on Fri Jul-08-05 01:31 PM by cynatnite
We've lived at our current address for only a few months. For the first time in years we are now on city water and are also paying sewer.

The second water bill was for a full month. The water cost 13.31 and the sewer was 28.20. Including state sales tax the total was 42.77. I was stunned.

Just a few minutes ago I called the city to complain and this is what I was told. Based on our usage the water going into the sewer goes to a waste water treatment facility. From what I was told this is a fairly new system and expensive to operate. The city had two choices. Either put it on the property taxes or to everyone who is on city water. Those who pay property taxes would have been unfairly taxed while those who do not, would not have had to pay even though they use the same system.

We have a large chemical plant, a munitions plant, and a battery plant. They all use this system as well which is why it's so costly. I can only imagine what their bill is.

When it comes to a clean and safe environment, I will pay and I'll do it with a smile on my face.
