Question with my computer |
|
Hi all. I posted earlier that something happened to my computer. My brother ran a virus scan and nothing was on the computer to have messed it up. My other name had a temporary thing that it went to. So I had to make a new name and transfer all my stuff over. Everything else is fine though. Since the other name is just there and taking up space I was going to delete it. Will my computer just delete everything on that name? I want to make sure because I've never deleted a name before. Thanks in advanced.

i would leave it hanging around for a while unless you are very short on hard drive space.

2. It seems to be that way |
|
All the programs are over here and I transfered all the stuff over here. My brother's login name is all fine he said. It was just the other name. If I can delete the other name it will give me tons of more space.

6. as the other poster mentioned |
|
if you are sure you have everythign go ahead and delete the account, after you remove the account you can go into "C:\Documents and Settings" and make sure the folder is gone for the old user account, if you not you should be able to just delete it.

3. Are you running windows XP? |
|
If you are, then when you delete the account it will ask you if you want to save all of the documents associated with the old account (that account's "my documents" folder), and if you say yes, then it will put them all in a file on your desktop in your new account. Otherwise you can just delete everything.
I'm not sure if earlier versions of Windows have the same ability, but Windows XP and Mac OS X, if you're running that, have it.

I already transfered everything from "My documents" onto this new name earlier this week. So when I delete the other name I choose the option no since everything is over here?

in that case, yeah, just tell it to delete everything and the entire account will be removed.
