Abdominal abscesses generally ONLY occur in serious abdominal surgeries that have been prolonged.
So understand this....by playing your petty little games and getting him bumped off the surgery schedule, the infection had an opportunity to set itself up preoperatively and then rear it's ugly head postoperatively and then ultimately, kill him.

10. Thanks for posting that link. I didn't know the whole story.

How sickening and how sad. This certainly goes to show how deep our mistrust between Democrats and Republicans and people in general can go. I've only been on the DU for possibly over a year (can't remember at the moment) and I've read of so many wonderful, intelligent, altruistic, American loving people passing away.

The amount of bad news in the past few days has been unbelievable.

14. Many DUers who did know the story didn't want to add to the stress

and anxiety Andy was already feeling by posting about it.

Everyone was focused on healing and sharing positive energy.

The "graveyard rats" as Will Pitt called them operated outside the tight circle that those who cared for Andy tried to create for his protection. Having followed the threads, I can say without hesitation that I have never in my life witnessed such reprehensible behavior as was exhibitied by a few hateful individuals who did all in their power to cause additional suffering to torment a dying man and everyone who grieved for him. If these people were Christians, I hope their god judges them with the same compassion they showed Andy and his friends.

15. I am ashamed to say I think I might have been influenced

By some of the negativity around the entire saga. It started when I checked in at DU and found Bev Harris was suddenly a pariah on DU and their was some sort of controversy around her and her project. Partly because the admins attempted to censor the discussion of the information involved and partly because I don't have time these days to sort this stuff out I never fully got what that stuff was about. It was a turn off however.

A turn off to DU and I think subconsciously Andy lost credibility in my mind aa result. Now I feel ashamed for this even though it was not a conscious decision.

Next thing I know Andy is very sick and people are raising money to help. For some reason it did not sink in that it was serious. A couple of weeks later I show up and find Will Pitt who was one of the initial people helping raise money was raising questions about Andy's honesty.

That is where I stopped paying attention. I had met Andy and liked him very much. I really wish I would have just called him to ask about this stuff. He was going to explain the whole Bev thing since I could only get part if the picture from what was allowed to be posted here.

Now I have heard their is some site that cannot even be mentioned here which is also strange. I don't know what to make of this whole thing but I think a lot of people including myself should be ashamed of how they handled Andy in his time of need.

waged against Andy, and collaterally, against DU.

Do not feel badly (I say unreasonably), it was in the air, they put it there.

But let's learn from this, because there will be a next time.
