Want to see a disgusting abuse of power?

That this cop wasn't punished for this shows how little you can really trust authority.

And don't be fooled by the "funny video" tag...It's anything but.

5. And if anyone had thought to check the videotape
Edited on Fri Jul-08-05 02:10 PM by rocknation
none of it would have happened.

I've seen a couple of episodes of Cops where they were called in about a shoplifter, and the store manager would show them the surveillance tape of what the suspect had done--simple. But at least the girl's summer job problems got solved!

10. what an asshole!
I was once threatened with arrest for "looking" at an undercover cop the wrong way...I just saw some asshle who seemed to be harrassing some woman, and I guess I checked the situation out too much, thinking I might have to intervene--didn't even know he was a cop, but then he starts in on me with "what are you lookin' at, boy? You know I'm a police officer, right? You want me to put the cuffs on you right now..." and so on. It was right outside my apartment building, so I just shook my head and walked inside, but wtf?

From the movie Billy Jack: "When policemen break the law, then there isn't any law - just a fight for survival."

15. The cop's an asshole, he should have been fired, but...
I don't care if the girl's white or black, the way she talked to him wasn't right. Yes, he overreacted, but if the girl had kept the swearing in and tried to be polite about it and not totally blow the guy off, she never would have been sprayed. She probably wouldn't have got 60 grand, though, either.... hmmmm....

He's being treated like a pig because of his criminal behaviour.

The guy's a disgrace to his uniform and belongs in jail.

32. Precisely--to get respect--GIVE IT.
Edited on Fri Jul-08-05 06:40 PM by blondeatlast
And the fact that he apparently wasn't disciplined is why cops are losing respect, whether it's right or not.

Edit: If the public could see that police departments take out-of-line behavior by their own seriously, respect would follow, and cops would behave with respect, decency, and proper authority.

When they get no discipline for stepping over the line, what are we supposed to think?

20. oh the "way she talked"
Edited on Fri Jul-08-05 03:32 PM by SlavesandBulldozers
yeah, cops hate that the most. It's against "their" law. She was done when she said "I don't care that you're a police officer". That, to the cop mind, is the most insidious of blasphemies - and you can be sure that if tasers were in circulation when that incident occurred (which was around 5ish years ago) that girl would have been lit up like a fucking light bulb.

And then, like clockwork, liberalnurse would come out and defend the cop's actions.

21. Cop thinks he gets shortchanged
at a Wendy's drive through. Comes inside to complain to the manager. The cop thought he gave the woman working the window a 20 instead of a 10. A quick look in the register shows that there are no twenties in there. Cop comes back and starts giving the woman working the window a hard time. The woman starts cussing out the cop. Cop tries to arrest her. She won't go. Cop pepper sprays her in the face. Woman ends up going to the hospital. She gets a $60,000 settlement from the police. The cop goes free and unpunished.

Remind me never to serve a cop in Dayton, Ohio.

The businesses in Dayton should all refuse service to cops.

Or, at the very least, they should refuse to provide service to THIS cop.

If I owned a store in Dayton, this cop would not be welcome in it.

Judge upholds rehiring of cop who sprayed girl

DAYTON, Ohio — A judge has upheld the reinstatement of a policeman fired after using pepper spray on a worker at a fast-food restaurant.

Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey Froelich ruled Monday that the city is bound by an arbitrator's order to rehire policeman Michael McDonald.

<snip>

Officer McDonald used pepper spray on Brandy Martin, then 17, while arresting her in February 1998. He said she refused to go with him to his cruiser and receive a summons after he accused her of shortchanging him at the drive-through window.

Officer McDonald, 35, was found not guilty of misdemeanor assault in June 1998. But Police Chief Ronald Lowe fired him a few weeks later, saying OfficerMcDonald's actions were callous and brutal.

A police officer in Dayton, Ohio has been acquitted of criminal charges after allegedly using pepper spray on Brandy Martin, a 17-year-old Wendy's restaurant worker who short-changed him at the drive-in window... we would like to commend the officer for keeping his service revolver holstered during the entire ordeal...
