With regard to the DU Activist Corps

You've seen the link at the top of the various DU forums for the new Activist Corps. Skinner has written that he is seeking 1000 volunteers before he starts sending out assignments. I don't know exactly what will be suggested of the volunteers, but I for one and anxiously waiting to do my part.

Since joining DU in April of last year, I have read of long-time DU members who have passed on. These were members who’s posts were entertaining, informative and inspirational. Members who possessed the Progressive spirit that was displayed by Progressive activists of the past, the sort of Progressive spirit that I, in my ignorance, had thought did not exist in any meaningful way in the country anymore. These members accomplished in their lives and on DU great things, things I can’t hope to repeat. But, perhaps as a part of a group, I can make a difference, and I’d like to try.

Since tripping across the forum Liberal America, and then reading about DU, I have had a profound and most welcome awakening of spirit and political will. I have learned of some amazing voices in Progressive politics. I have been schooled in the Progressive movement. I have rediscovered my Liberal political and social roots. I have hope for the future.

I’d like to see this Activist Corps thing get started, and soon. I guess I am impatient, please allow me that vice. If you have not, please sign up and let’s get this train rolling. Do it for Duers of yesterday, and tomorrow, and for yer own self.
