Fascist intimidation of MLB if they sell the Nats to Soros.

This must be on the top 10 list of Republican hubris.

2. I don't know; it's unreal.
GW Bush got to own a team - WHILE HIS FATHER WAS PRESIDENT. How could you get more partisan?

And correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Steinbrenner and Selig are big Republican donors.

5. And the jackasses at the Hall of Fame are hardcore wingnuts
They cancelled an anniversary celebration for "Bull Durham" because they were afraid of the views of two actors. But THAT'S not political.

House Republicans Throw Political Spitball At Baseball

Published: Jul 6, 2005

The Washington Nationals are the surprise team of Major League Baseball, and the District of Columbia has fallen in love with its new team. The relocated franchise, formerly the Montreal Expos, leads its division. More than 1 million people have seen the Nats play at RFK Stadium.

..cut..

But when the son of a Republican president, George W. Bush, became part of a group buying the Texas Rangers in 1989, no Democrats raised a fuss. Nor did they when Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch bought the Los Angeles Dodgers in the mid-1990s, nor when Tom Monaghan, a fierce anti-abortion crusader, purchased the Detroit Tigers. Their politics did not affect their ability to own a team, and neither should Soros'.

Major League Baseball, not Congress, knows best who should own the Washington franchise. Threatening the sport and its fans because of an owner is unsportsmanlike conduct.

6. nice.
but really, this is more than partisan politics. It is a fascist intimidation tactic IMO and democrats should make a big deal out of it. Dean doesn't need to call them fascist but he should fold this into his "culture of corruption" routine. it is gangland style intimidation.

7. I think it is great they have so much spare time.
This is the second time they have stuck their noses into baseball's business. Less Governmental regulation and oversight, eh? Always good to have your priorities straight.

8. Monaghan sold the Tigers (thank God)
to fund his whacked out law school - but does Rupert Murdoch still own the Dodgers?
