You made your mark...

You are gone from us way too soon. Today, my heart has a bigger crack in it then was there yesterday. My mind has somehow not caught up with the rest of my grieving being.

But...

There is a touch of solace in thinking of the person you were. I knew you on an internet message board, and yet my children asked almost daily on the health of the man with the funny hat, never having once gazed upon your sweet face in real life. (You sent them a thank you email with that photo) We printed it and put in on the fridge as a reminder of the battle you were fighting...to keep you close. We are sad our thoughts weren't enough, but my children go forward in life better for the fleeting moment when your life touched theirs.

You never gave up here in DU...you fought tirelessly, while many of the rest of us (myself included at times) grew pessimism heavy...not able to write any more LTTE's, not wanting, or daring to hope. Through that, you HOPED.

You stood clean in a shower of mud. You never once showed just how much pain this had to have caused you. You were graceful, eloquent and dignified while the rest of us screamed at the injustice.

You were glue, Andy...you really were. You are an example for us all. I am grateful for having known you, however fleetingly on this message board. I will never forget the lessons you taught me through your graceful handling of all that life so maddeningly threw at you this past year. Rest easy. You Made Your Mark.

I remember when God, bush & cheney, first posted on DU, impressive and informed, this Gb&c fellow helped make us all proud to be DU'ers.

Rest peacefully Andy, your candle burned bright and even now brings needed light unto a darkened world.
