Chickens Come Home to Roost: Judge Gets Beseiged with Angry Calls
This judge has nobody to blame but himself. He could have issued another ruling and this wouldn't have happened. I'm afraid the chickens have come home to roost.

OKLAHOMA CITY — U.S. District Judge Lee R. West's telephone has not stopped ringing since he sided with telemarketers seeking to block a popular national do-not-call list.

Egged on by talk show hosts and angry Web sites, people have flooded West's office and home with calls and faxes, apparently trying to show him why they wanted to ban unsolicited sales calls.

1. This sort of thing isn't right if there isn't impropriety involved.
He ruled on the law as presented in the petition and people should
either deal or appeal. Harassing a judge is unAmerican behavior in
my mind.

There was a judge that ruled a five-year old molested girl invited
her attack because she 'wore provocative clothes' and acted in a
'provocative manner'. Stone that judge. Not this one.

No matter how annoyed you are. :) I have a telezapper on my phone
line and haven't had a sales call since I put it on. Go to Radio
Shack and get one. Works great. :)

2. Caling a judge to tell him your thoughts is not harassment
And by his ruling, he apparently claims it's not even a nuisance. I'm sure he's enjoying talking to the people and hearing their diverse opinions on the matter.

I presume he'll also be relieved when some of the calls turn out to be telemarketers trying to sell him a zapper.

3. And if?
What about the working man who cannot afford fancy telezappers and fancy caller ID? Why should the affluent be able to screen out calls while the working man is subject to endless harassment and hucksters?
