Billy Graham's Daughter Arrested


NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. - Evangelist Billy Graham's daughter was arrested and charged with domestic abuse after witnesses told police she choked her husband in a parking lot, authorities said.

Virginia Graham Foreman, 59, spent a night in jail after the July 1 confrontation outside a shopping center, police said. She was charged with misdemeanor domestic abuse and released the following day.

Three witnesses told police that Foreman pushed her husband and grabbed him by the throat, authorities said.

Billy Graham is an old-time Presbyterian (PCUSA) minister who lives in a Presbyterian enclave (Black Mountain, NC) in a true log cabin. As an old-time Presbyterian (USA! not the fundy PCA), I am extremely proud of Billy Graham's self-outing as a Democrat. I have actually know it for years.

40. How Can Somebody Live With Believing What They Believe?

Basically, people like Billy Graham believe in a Hitler-like God, a supposed God of love who condemns people to hell for all eternity if they happen to miss out on accepting Jesus Christ in this lifetime.

They can't question that belief, or question anything in the Bible, which is supposed to be the absolute Word of God.

One would have to repress a lot to really believe that way, and that some of one's fellow humans are headed to hell for all eternity. And the responsibility of having to do all one can to win people to Christ, to be concerned with not only one's own but other people's eternal destinies. Or, alternatively, to gloat about other people going to hell.

Somebody like Virginia cannot, and dare not, question her upbringing, her parents (especially if they are of the stature of Ruth and Billy Graham), the Bible, or the beliefs she has been brought up with.

She has to repress any doubts, struggles, or anger, so it finally finds an outlet when she chokes her husband.

And of course her husband would not be the sort of person to stand up for himself, but rather would deny any abuse.
