SILENCE!! The 'president' is speaking !!
pRESIDENT George Bush said this in Africa: "It's very interesting when you think about it, the slaves who left here to go to America, because of their steadfast and their religion and their belief in freedom, helped change America." -- George Bush at Dakar, Senegal. LOL.

14. Got his "Gentleman's C" in History
It's one of those what might have happened questions. What might have happened if someone had paid for Hitler -- who showed some talent in architectural rendering -- to go to art school in Vienna? Similarly, what might have happened if one of W's professors at Yale had insisted on giving idiot George the final grade he deserved -- an F --and he couldn't graduate?

No Texas ANG. No deferrment. W's tour in Vietnam would have changed history.

You know even if for the past 59 years he's been too lazy to crack a book and read ANYTHING, you would have thought that he would have absorbed some basic information about things like American history just by being alive but apparently, no, no he hasn't. He apparently cannot comprehend that for centuries, natives of equatorial Africa left for America in shackles.
I had the opportunity to go out to Goree Island and talk about what slavery meant to America.

It sickens me to think that such stupid words fell out of the mouth of a president.

29. his statements about slavery remind me ot this archetype
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magical_negro

"When he first encounters the (invariably white) protagonist, the Magical Negro often appears as someone uneducated and in a low station of life, such as a janitor or prisoner. The black character is depicted as wiser and spiritually deeper than the protagonist, and the purpose of the "Magical Negro" in the plot is often to help the protagonist get out of trouble, and to help the white character recognize his own faults and overcome them. The black character may literally have special powers, or he may be mysterious in a way that suggests otherworldliness.

The Magical Negro can be considered a form of the "noble savage" or "wise old man" archetype. Variants include the Native American who helps pragmatic whites discover their inner spirituality and brings them back in touch with nature, and the servant (of any non-white race) who sacrifices himself to save his master."

and his is a moran, but he's not completely stupid. i've been studying the bush dyslexicon for several years nor (unfortunately), and when i analyze this statement:

"It's very interesting when you think about it, the slaves who left here to go to America, because of their steadfast and their religion and their belief in freedom, helped change America."

"the slaves who left here to go to America" hmmm...see how he acknowledges slaves, but doesn't acknowledge slavery, or the slave trade? you'd almost think they were going on holiday or something...

"because of their steadfast and their religion and their belief in freedom, helped change America"

again...no acknoledgement of slavery, and no acknowledgement of the plight of africans in american history, why any change was necessary. the only thing he's acknowledging is that "they helped change America."

it's very interesting when you think about the smirking ass who uttered this BS.

46. seabeyond please explain to me...
I'm just an old hippy but I don't think President Bush is an ass. In fact I voted for him. In my twenties I was a member of SDS at college and fought for civil rights in the South during the sixties including standing up to the KKK by participating in helping African Americans break the sundown laws in several counties in Georgia. I opposed the war in Vietnam and the draft and participated in many demonstrations to voice my opposition. I also organized a march at the University of Georgia for coed equality to create the same rules for both male and female students. I think you and others are wrong about the war in Iraq and President Bush. Could you explain to me how I could change so much that I have left the Democratic party and have become a Republican? I would appreciate it if you could do it without resorting to name calling.

slaves who left here to go to America, because of their steadfast and their religion and their belief in freedom, helped change America.

you dont think this isnt an assinine comment. lets break it down

left here to go to america. how lite he makes it, as if they had a choice. ripped from families. shackled. treated worse than animals. too many died on the ships coming over. could he make this any less than what it really is.

the whole middle part suggest they were willing participant. they were slaves.

this is a horrible inept statement

now bush. i live in texas. i am a conservataive. i watched bush as governor. i dont applaud lying in any form, they are rampant in their lying. huge no no. they have to be called on it. are you calling them on it. if they arent called on it they will continue and worse. hey, they know this, so they continue and worse

iraq. what is my opinion of iraq. that soldiers are in trouble over there. that innocents are being murdered. every step of the way bush has walked iraq with greed and dishonesty. if that is intent, nothing good will transpire. nOTHING. that is a waste of lives. lots of lives. and it is unnecessary. bush has done everything to exactly create the mess in iraq. he has done nothing to bring peace, and healing in that country.

people are dying

bush lacks integrity
bush lacks honesty
bush lacks...........in every way

our health insurance is a mess
he has allowed so much power to corporation. i am a business owner. my father was running major huge corporations. yet there is not a balance anymore. before it was a triangle. customer, employee and owner. all three with respect, with good intent, all prospered. now it is not like that anymore. now it is corp with all the power abusing.

i am a christian. i voted for kerry. i live in a red state. i am raising two children. i have listened to republicans in all spectrums of the board tell me i am not christian. i am not patriotic. i am anti american. i am a terroist. i am anti family

have you stood up to your fellow republicans and said that is wrong. simply wrong.

i am sorry you dont see all the mess bush has created in this country in a very short time. a mere 5 years ago, if a administration outed a cia agent, people would have been outraged

if our vp had called the opposing party the "other faith" people would be outraged

if the numbers, and reports and scientific studies where changed to fit agenda people would be outraged

if they were lied to to go to war and loss of life, people would be outraged

if people saw such attack and hate on our fellow american, attacking for sexual orientation, people would have been outraged

using religion to hate, people would have been outraged

why arent you outraged.

why....arent you outraged

that is very condescending and a good little jab. though you are not name calling you are putting me in my place none the less. please feel free to read my thousands of posts, to assure yourself i am able to interact with a person without the need to name call. consistantly the republicans will call names instead of conversing. it is epidemic. another little trick of the republicans is to pin it on the dems first, what they consistantly do. it isnt the democratic party that has the challenge of discussing, it is the republicans.

i wasnt having a conversation with bush, i expressing what i felt about whaat he said.

42. the president forms a thought!
which is: "it's a good thing we took all those African people and chained them up and hauled them to America, because their suffering (at our hands) made them stronger and through that made religion in America stronger."

With this kind of logic, we should all go out and inflict maximum suffering on any people that we can--so they can become "steadfast" and then "help change" America. Simply beyond the pale of the imagination.

Once again, Bush doesn't understand how a historical anecdote about how people should resist tyranny is an argument for his impeachment or forcible removal from power.
