Please, can we let Andy rest awhile, without squabbling in his name? |
|
It's undignified, IMHO, to fight battles among ourselves in his name.
If you simply must, could you do it by PM?
Let the poo fly a week or so from now, when we aren't so shell-shocked.
I'm sure Andy would enjoy a good flame-fest by then, after he's a bit more rested. He's been through hell for months and beyond--let him RIP for a reasonable amount of time, please.
Thank you.

And I'll be back at 5 a.m. (GMT +1)
There ought to be room in GD for polite dissent.

4. Can't There Be a Forum for all "Personal" / Vanity / Calling-Out Threads? |
|
Hear-hear to the o.p. Especially about using the PM for PERSONAL MESSAGES. Just for anybody's information, like it matters, I "Alert" every single "personal" or vanity thread that crosses my eyes. Once. Just once. If the mods decide to let the threads continue, which these last couple of months they mostly do, I let it go. Also on "cultural"/historical items (Meeting Room) and "news of the weird".
Believe it or not, it really hurts to "Alert" on really heartbreaking items that are so personal.

I love Andy, too, and am (like everyone else) the grateful beneficiary of his legacy, but let's let him rest.

9. People do all kinds of weird things |
|
When people die. It's part of the grieving process. I agree it would be good for people to stop squabbling, but I also hope everyone here could be gentle in general - especially at the mad postings.
You're going to see people on this board apologizing to each other in a week or so saying, "I'm sorry I got mad at you - I was just upset over Andy. I didn't mean to take it out on you."

Besides, martyrdom didn't seem like Andy's style.
