Pissing chimp off w/ cell phones
Couldn't tell if this had been posted before..shrub has cell phone issues... Sounds like Gitmo may have to add a new wing just to house the people who violate his "no cell phone" policy:

http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050622/NEWS09/506220343

If there is one thing that annoys the usually unflappable President, it's the interruption of a ringing cell phone while he's conducting a meeting or making a speech. When he became President, he informed aides that nobody, but nobody, was to let a wireless phone ring in his presence. Was that too much to ask, he said, not in jest.

After several photo opportunities with foreign leaders in which journalists' phones rang, he ordered aides to tell everyone before he walked into a room to turn off all pagers and cell phones. If it has to be explained in English, Chinese, or any other language, he said, he wanted everyone to know how much he hates ringing cell phones. It's what some have called his "phonophobia."

<snip>

Less than an hour later, in the Old Executive Office Building next to the White House, Mr. Bush was at the swearing in of Bob Bernanke as chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers. Mr. Bush had just introduced a guest - Alan Greenspan, head of the Federal Reserve Bank - and was launched into his speech about how well the economy is performing. He was revving up to deliver a barrage of statistics when a second cell phone rang.

<snip>
After the event, a female White House aide told the red-faced technician what the President said. She told him to put his phone on "vibrate." She said the President doesn't want this to happen again. Ever.

22. If that's true, it can be tested.
Someone needs to go to one of his press conferences holding an open line and see what happens. :evilgrin:

5. Hey, I agree with Shrub on this one.
If people can't figure out how to make it vibrate silently, or use their voice mail, then they should stay in a special cell-phone room where they can shout and play their goddamned tunes to their hearts' content.

9. I also agree
As much as I hate to admit agreeing with the asshole. (Not you--the bush asshole.) There is such a thing as vibrate and pagers. Ringing cell phones should be banned from any meeting, anywhere, any time, with anyone.

14. I generally agree too -
Edited on Sat Jul-09-05 12:24 PM by tenshi816
but, damn, just the idea that it pisses him off would make me want to download a really obnoxious ringtone for my phone, and have the volume up really loud if I were ever to be allowed into the Chimperor's exalted presence.

Just my inner bitch coming out today.

Edited to say I like your photos. I love photographing flowers.

10. You seem to be a confused liberal....
Although I do agree with you in normal social situations. You need to come to terms with which do you dislike most. I have made my decision, and if those cute tones can piss him off, then all the better.......

:rofl:

18. Billy Crystal talked about this last night -- he told

Letterman he's had as many as TWELVE cellphones go off during his one-man show, despite an announcement before he comes onstage, a second announcement that Billy makes as he begins his act, and a written announcement in the program.

What is wrong with people who a) pay no attention to announcements and b) don't check their phone just to be sure it's off immediately after someone else's phone goes off?

This is so easy to solve!

PUT THE PHONE ON VIBRATE WHEN YOU'RE IN A MEETING, A MOVIE OR OTHER PERFORMANCE, AT A WEDDING OR FUNERAL, AT CHURCH, ETC. OR STAY HOME AND PLAY WITH YOUR PHONE ALL DAY.

13. Maybe he just has a thing *for* vibrating cell phones...
Maybe he carries a bunch of them in his underwear and instructs Pickles to call all of them when he has to make a speech. That might explain the weird facial expressions he makes during speeches since he took office.

Maybe a reporter's ringing cell phone gives him erectile dysfunction.

15. The problem with Bush is he's a brat
An arrogant brat who's never been introduced to the idea that the world doesn't revolve around him, and who, for most of his life, if not all of it, has been indulged in the idea that the world must remake itself in his image.

20. I actually agree with the chimp on this one.
Cell phones users (generally) show a complete lack of respect for the rest of us. Especially on the road.

Use them in a respectful way or prepare for the disrespect to come right back attcha.

Taking the call and chatting about your girlfriend's gossip is one thing, but a ring?
