Andy's story would have national appeal. I suggest people write the media
Edited on Sat Jul-09-05 01:02 PM by Quixote1818

It would call attention to our National Health Care problem and Andy's hard work on making elections trustworthy again. I can't believe this story wouldn't get picked up all over the place but everyone on DU needs to write the media about his amazing story!

Here is a site where you can write many media outlets:

I know everyone is deeply saddened and angry at those who slandered Andy. This is a way to direct your energy's into something positive. This is an important and interesting story and it needs to be told.

5. Emphasise the blog link.

MSM is always looking at a way to discredit blogs. They will do this regardless of what story is picked up for that purpose, so no harm done in billing it as "when Internet blogs turn lethal" or something like that to get them interested. The human/election side of Andy's story will have to ride the coat-tails of that, I'm afraid, but better it be his/our story than something else.

I work for a 'health care' corporation and months ago, we got an in-house email, telling ALL employees to NOT answer ANY requests by Michael Moore or any of his researchers/associates! We were instructed to direct all inquiries to the public relations office! LOL they are AFRAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

12. Does anyone know anyone at the New York Times, our "paper of record"?
I know it has its detractors here, and falls short, and worse, on many occasions, but I think Andy deserves an obituary in the NYT.

14. I would like to see cyber stalking legislation that prevent attacks
I would like to see legislation that prevents the type of attacks that happened to Andy, that harmed his healing, that tried to ruin his name and legacy. The first thing termite said to me when I told him of the efforts to remember Andy through activist causes and proposed legislation was whether the legislation would be criminalizing the cyber stalking that harmed Andy.

I am very concerned that if justice is not pursued, if the small nucleus of evil folks responsible for the hate and harm they brought to Andy, if they are not held accountable for their vile deeds, then they will victimize others. This was sport for them, this was a game and this was evil. Some still doubt our sweet friend and mock his death.

I had conversations with Andy, he did not want revenge, he wanted justice. He wanted the folks hurting him to be stopped so that they could never hurt others as they hurt him. No, vengeance is not ours, Andy did not want it, but the pursuit of justice, to hold those responsible for the damage accountable for their hate and envy and the harm they brought him is right and very necessary.

I want justice, I want Andy's causes pursued, for Andy and the nation he loved. One of the things that I would like to see come out of all this is legislation that will prevent the type of cyber stalking that harmed our Andy and that continues to harm others. These people have got to be stopped, for Andy's family's sake, for Ted's sake and for the sake of the other potential victims out there. The evil that focused on Andy is part of the evil that is ruining our nation and Andy loved our nation. He would want us to try to stop them from victimizing others.

Andy's causes:

Voter Verified Paper Ballots
Univerisal Healtcare
Anti-Cyber Stalking Legislation

:loveya: Andy :loveya:

15. another activist with cancer:
just wanted to point out another activist working on universal healthcare right now. Damu Smith is a human rights, environmental justice and peace activist, and prolific grassroots organizer. He has recently been diagnosed with colon cancer. He is using the opportunity to increase awareness of our national healthcare system's inadequacies.
