Painful irony

I just came from a meeting at which an Iraqi doctor reported on conversatons she's had with her family in Baghdad. She said the Iraqi people are wondering why young people are coming from Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and Iran to blow themselves up as suicide bombers in Iraq. She said they think the reason is so that, if they keep the conflict boiling in Iraq, they won't have to fight the Americans in their own countries. In other words:

"WE'RE FIGHTING THE TERRORISTS OVER THERE SO WE DON'T HAVE TO FIGHT THEM AT HOME."

4. I think the original poster

meant that the Syrians, Iranians, etc., are trying to contain the US troops in Iraq rather than having US troops spreading into their home countries. Welcome to DU BTW.
