I'm Attending the DNC Party in NY Tonight: My Plan |
|
This is what I'm going to say if I get a few minutes w/ any of the candidates:
Stop cutting on each other. We need unity across the board more than ever. Acknowledge that every Dem candidate is far superior to Bush and stress why YOU'RE the best of the bunch and why your policies are better than Bush's INCOMPETENCE. I'm also going to suggest that they offer the other Dem candidates places in their admin. when they're elected as a show of unprecedented unity.
I'm more psyched to meet Al Franken though!

ask them to pledge to the American people, one of the first things they will do is have an open and public investigation of 9/11 and bring everything out in the open - we need a pledge from one of the candidates to do this - we need complete transparency on what happened..why did the air force stand down? why did the Saudis get out of the country? why did everyone buy the stupid lie that * saw the first plane hit? and on and on and on. FOR ME THIS IS A MUST. I WANT TO HEAR THEM SAY IT AND PLEDGE TO DO IT.

2. Excellent platform, Beetwasher! |

I felt that Dean led that sentiment at today's debate, and really set the tone by not nipping at the bait offered him by the moderators. The only time he attacked was in self-defense, when Gephardt unwisely likened him to Newt Gingrich.
The crucial issue here is attacking Bush, and they all seem to be on the same page (it almost makes me think they had a pre-game huddle about this). Attack Bush, bring his poll numbers down further, and that really opens up the idea of a Democratic President in '04 to the massees. It's key, it's essential, and it will work.
Have a great time, by the way! :hi:

Unfortunately, I missed the debate because I was at work. I've been relying on DU for the gist of it so I can at least speak intelligently about it tonight!

4. I'm IN NYC ... until Tues. of next week. |
|
I was going to go to the DNC dealio at the Flat Hotel (I think they're really referring to the Flatotel). It's from 9-9:30.
Does anyone know if it's invitation only? I'd hate to be a party crasher!

I know it's not the whole shooting match, but i quite like not seeing bush* dominating the headlines like he used to do in the past, but which he isn't doing now.
If they all stand around saying nice things to each other, that could a bit dull.
Not everybody has been having 'candidate wars' for the last upteen months like we have here, and are thus not as battle scared as we are here, so they can probably handle a few verbal punch-ups.
There is plenty of time to the elections, so they can smoke um pipe-pipe at a later date.
And also, whether it is because I'm werid, but I have gone right off the 'unity' word.

That all the Dem candidates come together, just once cuz we know they are competing, and in unison announce how despicable shrub is. Project a unity from ALL TEN that bush and the PNAC/neo-cons must go!!! That they are all out for the nomination but in the end it is all for one, one for all. We need a rally for ABB. That is a gross simplification but any candidate worth his/her salt should be 100% for anything to get whistle ass out of power!!!
