I use to work for an insurance company more than twenty years ago and the weather professionals knew then that Florida was a hurricane disaster waiting to happen. As a personal lines underwriter I heard many seminars on the subject. They kept warning us that we were ripe for the BIG one. They knew this TWENTY YEARS AGO. It's probably one of the major factors behind the withdrawal of so many insurance companies from this state. Are we suppose to ignore that their numbers drastically dropped in that period?

But your comments tell me something important. It tells me that you never understood the special characteristics of this state and because you didn't you overlooked some important things, like building codes?
