Rove was source for both Cooper and for Miller .. here's why .. |
|
1. Rove was primary confidential source for both reporters.
2. Matt Cooper is married to Mandy Grunwald, who was Bill Clinton's media advisor in the 1992 campaign and daughter of Henry Grunwald, who was editor-in-chief of Time, Inc. until his death earlier this year.
3. Rove was circumspect in talking to Cooper and played a coy game in which he framed the "super double secret" leak as "Joe Wilson's wife was behind the trip to Niger, not Cheney or Tenet" thereby making the objective of the leak something other than identifying Wilson's wife as a covert agent. Thus, when Novak's story is written, there are reporters in the background such as Cooper who can write that they knew about Plame. This makes the "common knowledge" argument.
4. Rove was blatant in talking with his compadre Judy Miller. He used the name "Valerie Plame" and his motives were much more transparent in speaking with Judy. His conversations with Miller could land him in the slammer -- and they both know it.
Therefore, I conclude that one scenario for Cooper getting a release from his source and Miller not getting the same release is based on the exposure that Rove has vis-a-vis Miller. Also, it confuses the media and public, inasmuch as we keep reading that Cooper and Miller couldn't have had the same source because one was released and one wasn't. And if Miller never talks, then Rove feels protected and will fight the prosecutor's charges on the "knowingly" issue.
That's my theory.

2. You have to ask where Rove got his information? |
|
This was highly classified top secret and I don't think even Rove had the clearance to find this out. He did know, and how and from whom might be a good question....

6. Rove could have gotten his info from ANYONE of his fellow |
|
co-conspirators. Why would he need to have any special clearance to information when bush**bots had taken over every aspect of the federal government and there wasn't any department or agency that they didn't have complete control over. And we all know that any info that bush** had access to either went through Rover first or Rover had to read to him.

If he did not have the clearance he |
|
will have to site how he got the information. I don't personally think that information is posted in the Break Room of the White House...

The Washington Post reported on the White House Iraq Group (WHIG) formed during the summer of 2002 and listed Bush, Rove, Hughes, Matalin, Rice and Cheney as among the group's members.
This was the group charged with packaging and selling the war.

4. Very good scenario, "....we are 'Through the Looking Glass'... |
|
....here people. We have to stop thinking like (normal people) and start thinking like they do. Black is white and white is black!" - - from Oliver Stone's movie JFK. I think I'm close on that quotation from the film, but I'll admit probably not word for word.

5. How large of an advance will Miller get for her upcoming book? |
|
I guess the amount rises in direct proportion to the length of her stay at the Iron Bar Inn.
How long can she hack it there, I wonder...

7. Well, she's only got four months - unless a new grand jury is enpaneled. |
|
But, if she doesn't talk, how much demand would there be for a book without disclosures? She'd probably only talk about Rove after his death.
