That thread about Freeper conspiracies (re: Andy) really bothers me |
|
Edited on Sun Jul-10-05 02:48 PM by CatWoman
the projection. the hypocrisy. the utter contempt for all that is good in the world.
seems they use as an excuse our hatred for Reagan and Strom Thurmond to justify what they are doing.
It's not as if they didn't cheer Democratic politician's deaths (Wellstone as an example).
Reagan and Thurmond's policies did tremendous damage to many Americans. The same is true for some of their personal behaviors.
Who did Andy Stephenson hurt with his policies and/or personal behavior?
Those people are lower than whale shit.

2. The most disgusting reaction was not to Wellstone... |
|
...but to Rachel Corrie, IMO.

we don't pretend to be what we are not.
I didn't see DUers having orgasm after orgasm during "shock and awe".

But what bothers me is postings like the ones attacking the Bush twins. Someone today referred to them as the Bush sluts. I think that is uncalled for and makes DU look bad.
Both sides have those that react poorly but just to different issues.
That being said, I am at a loss why Andy was such a target. I guess they noticed it got a response from posters on DU and that just egged them on.

15. Andy was a political target, simply put. |
|
He was on a list.
And this is my best evidence: a netowrk of peopl have very carefully skirted the law for the last ten weeks. No group of amateurs with a bug up their nose could do that.
Sure, there is the playground level to the whole thing. But that isn't what made Andy their target.

5. There were quite a few people on here |
|
who were cheering Reagan's death.
Here is another post from the FreeRepublic thread:
"Damn, I sure hope he knows, knew Jesus. I wonder if the cause is the fact that they (Doctors) waited so long between diagnosis and action?
What sucks is that as far as the Doctors are concerned, the surgery was a success.
Prayers for Andy and his family and his friends.
I don't think now is a time for ghoulish conspiracies. Damn, I though they got it all, I wonder what he died from?"
Small-mindedness, and compassion, comes in all shapes and sizes.

8. I didn't cheer when Reagan died |
|
I just didn't CARE. They had some bigass orgy of triumphalism and paraded his body around. I may have muttered to myself that it was a waste of money, but it was important to enough people that I didn't say it publicly. Even then, being disgusted by a corpse-parade, in NO WAY compares to denying a dying man what he needs.
If anyone of the freeptards was in need of money (or fleecing his own) I wouldn't say word one. In private or on these threads. The fact is they are sickeningly obsessed with us. They purposefuly go out of their way to make our lives miserable. They are a hate group, and for most are in need of psychological help.

They are the slime of the earth. The most hateful, disgusting people I've ever seen. And they have the audacity to wrap themselves in the bible???? :grr: Hypocrites. Every last one of them. I don't care if a few apologized...they should never have participated in that crap. Now they're just trying to sooth their guilt. Too fucking bad. I hope they take that guilt to their graves.
Andy was trying to save our country's election process. He hurt not a soul.

10. I think the issue is not so much the vindictiveness... |
|
...against Andy as the fact it was so well organized suggests it was orchestrated from the boardroom level. Anyone who has had the misfortune to live among Christian Fundamentalists knows from firsthand experience the cesspool of their malevolence is truly without bottom, and anyone who follows politics knows that BushCabal has now metastasized the characteristic viciousness of its Christofascist core into the entire body of conservatism -- to such a vile extent that a number of the more thoughtful secular conservatives are appalled, and some are therefore even beginning to rethink their positions. But that is an aside: the point here is that the eBay episode suggests not the normal grassroots Christofascist hatefulness but rather a campaign of demoralization and venomousness carefully orchestrated from above. Yes the Christofascists are repugnant, but we already knew that. We also knew their leaders are obviously far worse. What we did not know was that they would go to such lengths to organize an international hate campaign against one local activist. As wretched as that is, we can surely take comfort from the fact the very magnitude of the defamation-effort proves Andy's efforts were effective -- that Andy's work was striking sheer terror in the hearts of those oppressors whose schemes he was attempting to undo.

13. those people are lower than scum...what do you expect... |

It reminds about this time I was in a political chatroom, and they were making fun Elizabeth Edwards, and the fact that she had Breast Cancer. I really pissed me off, because I had family members, like my grandmother and my dad that died of cancer. If they had a conscience, they would have known that making fun of someone who died or is very ill is not funny. I didn't like Reagan or Thurmond, but I never made fun of them dying.

17. I have never cheered on someone's death. NEVER. |
|
Even if I didn't agree w/ that person I would not do such an awful thing. The Reagan family mourned their loss. The Thurmond family mourned their loss. I gave their families the respect that they deserved-that all of us deserve-when they were dealing w/ the loss of a loved one. And the only thing that I have ever really said about the Bush twins is that I do not see them as proper role models for my own daughter. I've never been disrespectful about it. I've just stated how I felt as a parent.
