Drudge swallows the bait hook, line, and sinker! |
|
So Wesley Clark said nice things about Reagan, Bush Sr., and some of Dubya's underlings. And apparently this is supposed to be The Big Deal That Derails The Clark Campaign - number 67 or so, if I haven't lost count.
One of the big reasons Clark is such a formidable candidate is that he appeals to an awful lot of Republicans. The fact that Clark said nice things about Reagan and Bush Sr. makes him look honest, gentlemanly, and bipartisan. In other words, the total opposite of a politician.
And the nice thing about Clark is that he really is honest, gentlemanly, and bipartisan. He'll brave all the slings and arrows of the media, including the Drudges and the Limbaughs, and emerge all the stronger for it. The reason the media whores are heaping so much scorn on the General is that they're scared shitless of him. And they should be.
Thanks, Drudge, for what's effectively a Clark commercial aimed at Republicans.

Drudge and his handlers do not share your view, but they are so far right they are almost falling over the edge, if not fallen already... but you are right... the General scares them shitless

by the simple act of procreation 41 is responsible for 43. And, as head of the CIA, 41 could have taken 43 out at any time and saved the planet a world of hurt.

13. I've never voted for a Republican in my life. |
|
At any level of any election. I hated Reagan with a passion that, looking back 20 years, was silly. But I think George Sr. was an average president, who did some good things, and tried to do others. That's where he's ranked historically, as well: about average. Reagan is rated above-average. At some point, partisanship has got to be dropped in favor of objectivity.
I don't want a president who is so partisan they cannot distinguish the good from the bad of their opponents, cannot work effectively with the opposition. DU, and the ridiculous level of polarization in this place, isn't anywhere close to a mirror for the country. Let Rush and Coulter pretend that everything Democrats say and do is straight from the devil's mouth; I don't want their opposite number representing me in political office.

He really didn't do anything for me in today's debates. I guess that I had high expectations. I wish that we could elect a Sharpton kucinich ticket. I really liked those two.

This kind of stuff will be devastating to Clark. He will never win with core Democratic supporters, not a chance! He's a Republican in Dem's clothing.
How blind are you people, my God!!!

15. Take a pill and calm down already |

I'm a Dean supporter, but much like most Dean supporters, Howard is the first candidate who's ever inspired me to campaign for him. This is my first experience with active campaigning, and as such, I can't color all Republicans as evil (because they're not, some are just stupid ;-) Clark saying nice things about Reagan or Bush Sr. might not sit completely right with me, but keep in mind that in order to win in 2004, we're going to have to appeal to swing/non-voters, most of which don't harbor blind hatred to Ronald Reagan. Like it or not, most of the American public doesn't curse Ronald Reagan's name, nor do they scare their children by telling them that if they don't eat their vegetables, the Gipper will eat them.
I hate Ronald Reagan. When he dies, I will have a kegger. It will be sparsely attended by my crazy lefty friends. But if I told most of the people I work with or casual acquantences about it, they'd look at me like I was crazy.

that he voted for Nixon? He's the fucker that started the whole RW mess.
Some of you guys want to vote for someone that just became a Democrat three weeks ago, fine. But it says a hell of a lot about how you feel about the Democratic Party.

Get a fucking grip. Do you want to let your blind partisanship bias you against someone who could beat Bush (DISCLAIMER: HE'S NOT THE ONLY ONE)? A lot of people voted for Nixon, it doesn't make them evil, for Christ's sake.
Nixon was evil. People who voted for Nixon: not necessarily.

Btw, I have a fucking grip - a fucking grip on the reality of someone that has voted repug for more than 2/3 of his life.
Our country needs a true blue Democrat, not an expedient Democrat.

I hated Reagan. I mean..I couldn't watch him on TV. The fact that he was so popular probably took a few months off my life in terms of bringing on early hypertension. As far as being a Democrat goes..well, when my son was like five or six and we were at a family gathering he came running in to the room where I was and, very shocked, said to me in confidential tones, "Did you know that Uncle Frank is a Republican???" We didn't mean to, but we'd obviously given the idea that Republicans were all akin to Satan or something. Things haven't changed much in my house.
I still prefer Clark for a number of reasons. I doubt we'd hang out all the time or anything, but I prefer him as a candidate. Now, about those core Democrats? Who are they? They should be working class whites and too often they're not. Clark could change that. They are working class minorities and you'll find a whole lot of those in the military. I know quite a lot of working class black families and most of them have at least one, often more, kids in the service or the reserves. I think they're going to love Clark.

Um...Clark was brownnosing Repukes as late as two years ago... Deal with it...
But then as you say!! "One of the big reasons Clark is such a formidable candidate is that he appeals to an awful lot of Republicans."
So in other words, Dems should elect a guy that appeals to Republicans?
You said it...confirming what most dems suspect
