Will Al Gore "Current" tv network start on Aug. 1, 2005? |
|
That is the start date they gave in interviews. But their website doesn't say, "Tune in, 3 weeks from now." http://www.current.tv/I'm not aware of any ads saying it starts in 3 weeks. Are you?

1. Did you see their Press Release dated June 20, 2005? |
|
ABOUT CURRENT Scheduled to launch August 1, Current is the first national network created by, forand withan 18-34 year-old audience. The lifestyle channel will show young adults what’s going on in their world, in their voice. With a substantial portion of the network’s content provided by the audience, it is the first network in history whose programming is supplied in part by the very audience who watches it. Current’s short-form programming will range from the hottest trends in technology, fashion, music and videogames, to pressing issues such as the environment, relationships, parenting, finance, politics and spirituality. Through a partnership with Google, programming will be anchored each half-hour by “Google Current,” which offers news based on the topics that people are searching for on the web. Current will launch into an initial 20 million U.S. homes on DirecTV, Time Warner Cable and Comcast. For more information, please visit the website: www.current.tv.
It's on their site under About Current, Press Room.
That's only a little over 3 weeks ago, so I guess it's still a go.

2. TV for those with ADD??????? |
|
"you tune in to Current, you'll see something amusing, inspiring or interesting. And then, three minutes later, you'll see something new. It'll be a video iPod stocked with a stream of short segments and set to shuffle."

4. Their argument is that tv ads are only 30 seconds, |
|
and people don't complain that those are too short, and therefore people shouldn't complain that the 3 minute mini-documentaries are too short.
