ABC News Covers Rove But Uses Joseph DeGenova As Talking Head
So they are about halfway into it and all of a sudden the piece cuts to a man, SOLELY identified on the screen as "Joseph DeGonava" (no title) who says, as if an independent arbiter, that it's quite clear that Rove has broken no laws and done nothing illegal.

What they fail to disclose anywhere in the segment is that DeGenova is a far rightwing Republican with very close ties to both Rove and Bush.

Did they then have on someone to balance this, who said Rove might very well have broken the law, you ask?

No.

This passes for journalism today. This is why we're in such deep trouble in this country. The press doesn't even identify a rightwing hack when it uses them as a source on a major network news story.

ABC News should be ashamed of themselves.

5. ABC is so far past being ashamed of themselves it's not funny. I used
to like Peter Jennings, before 2000 that is. He seemed to be the most up front and honest of them all. Who've thunk that when push came to shove Rather would be the best. (Screw what's his name, the guy that's on NBC and always on Letterman. He's a jackass.)

(which I think he did) why was he smearing someone who was telling the truth?

9. I'm surprised they didn't have his wife
the equally nuts Victoria Toensing, to balance out the story. At least it wasn't the felonious liar Ed Meese. CNN had his brilliant insight on the case a few days ago.

21. Last night Cspan reran the debate from last fall about
journalist protection of sources with Judy Miller on the panel. Victoria headed up the dissenting side. She brought up Novak at least 3 times and said each time that Joseph Wilson was not qualifed to be sent on the Niger trip. Her comments were so out of place that it was obvious that she was looking for the chance to plant them.

10. that's like when my local paper...
Ran a headline last October: "Study says media biased for Kerry" and neglected to say that the media watchdog group they cited was about as far right Scaife-funded outfit. (The paper was The Hartford Courant in CT) That's like in the summer of 1941 using Mussolini as a source to say Hitler is an ok guy

11. If I'm not mistaken
I think Joe DeGenova represents someone in the Bush WH who's been subpoenaed in the case, which makes his perspective even worse.

12. During the Clinton character assassination and war against him and
Dems, DiGenova and his wife, Victoria Toensing, were on tv about five times a week. I always surmised that one must have been on one corporate propaganda network while the other was on a different one and then they went to another propaganda networks in the next hour, then reversed it all on the next evening. I was sure they had nights off, but sometimes it didn't look like it when they had an opportunity to be pompous about the law.

Oh, they were earnest and the must have come off as non-partisan lawyers to some, not to me. They are extremely transparent when you know who they are. All their pretension about being these erudite, knowledgeable lawyers falls apart when you realize that they are determined propagandists for the right wing. The networks facilitate the propganda every time they and other so-called experts appear. I was fooled for years before 1992 until I started to research who they were.

People, welcome to the USSR with American twists. Wake up - you owe it to yuorselves and your family and your families to come.

You are being dumped on - especially by this self-important duo. They are sinister because they pretend to be lawyers only.

Be warned.

17. Remember when DeGenova was the investigator on the Passport deal?
Back when Clinton was running for President in 1992 against GHWB and someone in the passport office leaked information about Clinton having traveled to Moscow while he was a student at Oxford. There was a hue and cry from the Democrats that someone had leaked information from the passport office, and it is illegal to do so. DeGenova was appointed to investigate the matter -- and guess what? Of course, he didn't find any wrongdoing in the Bush Administration.

25. On the Demblogger video
they identify DeGenova as "Former US Attorney" below his name.

I don't remember even seeing that on the air. I just remember his name.

But, still, no mention of his political ties. Unbelievable.

the other day to talk about KKKRove. Those 2 were 2 of the WORSE talking heads during the Clinton witch hunt. Of course now KKKRove can do no wrong and Clinton needed to be impeached. Sick. This is just sick.
