WTF?? McDonald's "disses" Morgan Spurlock |
|
Remember Super Size Me? That movie helped contribute to the demise of the Super Size meals from McDonalds.
Well, now the meals are back. But they've been renamed "Extra Value Meals."
Guess Mickey D's figured we'd have a short attention span, ya reckon?

...along with another type of diet soda. But it seems like they might be reverting back to their old obesity-encouraging ways.

|
you do realize that if the giant agribusiness corporations can't sell their trans fats to you Canucks, they will just be dumping it here in the US even cheaper, and the average American will wind up eating even more of it. Lovely.
I avoid that crap like the plague, BTW. :banghead:

and we get all kinds of sh*t for trying to decriminalize pot (because the US is worried about smuggling) but your gun manufacturers are smuggling handguns into Canada and the administration won't lift a finger. It's a sad world.

5. Yeah, but the "super size" option of the value meals is gone, isn't it? |
|
Edited on Sun Jul-10-05 10:07 PM by high density
They've had the extra value meals for quite a while (at least here in the Northeast), but I think the massive "super size" option (huge fries and soda) was phased out. I seem to recall that for a while "Super Size" simply meant large, and then maybe four or five years ago they revamped the sizing so that the super size option had massive servings of fries and soda.

9. Yeah, the 'extra value' meals have been around for a while |
|
Just that they are meals instead of buying things separately...at least where I am. I remember Super Size got to be so huge that the soda wouldn't even fit in the biggest cupholders.

Not that I can keep track of what they call things there. "Extra value" is grouping the foods; super-sizing is upscaling the food.
Though, for the record, there was nothing in the world like some super-sized fries.

I don't eat there, anyway.
My family doesn't eat there.
Hell, I'm not even sure many of my friends eat there. We generally regard their food to be nasty crap.
Their recent attempt at a fruit salad has none of us fooled.
McDonald's can go fuck themselves. So can most fast food places, for that matter. It's shite.

|
I couldn't care less what Mcdonalds serves...the idiots who eat there are responsible for their own well-being. I know it sounds mean, but I have little sympathy for wasting money on fast food.

Screw them. Live by the free market, die by the free market, know what I mean?

...I have to agree about McDonald's food. With few exceptions, this is nothing but over-processed food for the unsuspecting proletariat.

|
>Their recent attempt at a fruit salad has none of us fooled.<
We were on the way home from our vacation recently, and didn't have time to go to a traditional restaurant to get a bite. I had the apple and walnut salad. It wasn't bad.
We don't eat at McDonald's as a rule, but in a pinch, at least there's something to eat there now that isn't dripping in fat grams or grease. I'd be happier if they would list the fat grams in the salads prominently on their menus, but one can't have it all.

Their fruit and walnut salad is actually one of their most unhealthy salads. You'd never know it from their ads though. They're almost as bad as the KFC commercial awhile back claiming fried chicken was a health food.

It's sliced apples, caramelized walnuts, and yogurt. The yogurt is on the side for those who eat dairy.
The unhealthiest salad McDonald's produces, IMHO, is the chicken tender salad.

The site of McDonald's makes me sick. I leave the room when people are eating it around me. Does this make me better than anyone else? No. It's just my small part in avoiding poison (but I do drink to excess and smoke...d'oh!).

MacDonald's now allows vapid valley-girl-speaking young women to get a "fruit buzz" on, with the help of some candied walnuts! Surely, that's healthy, isn't it?

It really reveals how the fast food market is geared to be addictive. That you can't sell anything without implying it gives you a high.

21. Um, didn't they just get rid of Super SIZING? |
|
Extra Value Meals have been there a long time. It was the "super size it" option that they got rid of... in other words, instead of getting a Big Mac, fries and a large coke, you could super size it and get an extra-large (super sized) fries and coke.

24. You obviously didn't see the movie then. |
|
Mickey D's has had Extra Value Meals even before they offered the original Dino Sizing with a Jurassic Park promotional tie in. People liked the extra large fries so after the promotion ended they kept the larger size and called it Super Sizing. Super Sizing is when you ask for the standard meal but get a much larger order of fries and a larger drink.
What he did during his experiment was that everytime he was asked if he wanted to Super Size his extra value meal he accepted.
