2. Quite ...

His/Her understanding of history is incredibly poor. Unfortunately, the blame for that rests primarily with our educational system, which at least at the high school level, generally teaches it as he/she seems to understand it.

More problematic is that the article being criticized has its own set of flaws.

3. I found this site the other day.
Edited on Mon Jul-11-05 12:22 AM by BattyDem
Another DUer suggested that we all Google our screen names, so I did ... and I found this site. I was very surprised! I had no idea that Freepers not only read, but distribute, my work. It's really quite touching. :P

On edit: They ridiculed a post I made early this year about being depressed and fed up with the fascist takeover of our country. As usual, they didn't bother to actually think about the content of my post or the truth within it, they simply ridiculed it. It must be very difficult to go through life with no ability to learn or think independently. :eyes:

4. "I seek posts by that paragon of pissiness, McCamy Taylor"
This is what it says when I do a Google of McCamy Taylor and Free Republic, but I dont actually see my name on the page. Boy, am I intrigued. Some time traveling psychic who is channeling the not yet dead, English language challenged George Will (paragon of pissiness????) seeks my posts. For what? Walks in the park?

Will explore further and report on what I find.

In case the mystery seeker is lurking, you can check out Salon.com Table Talk. I have been posting there a LONG time. My favorite thread, which I started, happens to be "George Will is a Dumb Ass With A Pulizter Prize" in politics. It is a good place to see other examples of the King's English being brutalized, if you are into that sort of thing.

"There is a certain DUmmie whose posting name includes the name of my hometown. I like to read his posts to see this city from the other side of the looking glass. It's hard to believe that he and I live in the same solar system, let alone the same town.

But, for pure, unadulterated DUmminess of the lowest order, I seek posts by that paragon of pissiness, McCamy Taylor."

Oooo! I am so flattered! I am a Democratic Undergrounder among Democratic Undergrounders!

7. This is my other link in Dummie Funnies. I am not sure why
Edited on Mon Jul-11-05 01:11 AM by McCamy Taylor
the people in Free Republic thought it was funny. Maybe they do not have political disagreements which have to be settled. Maybe they alll goose step in synch. Just kidding. I have skimmed a few posts. They are Americans, not Germans. Americans don't goosestep.

"Solidarity! We should be glad we are here and not in Freeperville"

(I dont know the context but solidarity is what I say when people are fighting with each other, and I suspect that Freeper/GOP plants are fueling the fight. It is nicer than accusing someone of being a mole.)

25. Wow!
You've been conferred a title! Paragon of Pissiness! Excellent :)

I'm really annoyed that when I chose my screen name I didn't choose something that could be googled. Maybe I have a title too and don't even know it!

8. True in more ways than one. Freepers revealed that Kerry was ahead
in the exit polls in 2004, spilled the beans that were supposed to be kept secret by the television news networks. That was what got everyone suspicious about the results. If the Freepers had not leaked the exit poll results that day and gone into a panic, the rest of us would not have know from the very beginning that bad things were going down in Ohio. We wouldnt have started taking notes, keeping filmed footage, etc. They really got us on our toes fast.

Thank you, Freepers!

9. It's weird that they are so obsessed with DU.
What freaks. There are a great number of sites run by these fruitcakes that are entirely devoted to observing/disrupting our site. It's a little disturbing. Why can't these people just get a life?

Most humorous is the fact that they pretend to think the liberal point of view is so absurd, yet they spend their entire waking existence paying rabid attention to it.

You couldn't pay me enough to give a shit what they say on conservative sites, or spend a second of my valuable time actually chronicling it, and making a website about it.

I really pity these simpletons.

11. Truth be known, I think they spend more time reading our site than their
own. Think about it....could you spend any serious time on that website? Sure it's fun to read an occasional thread there, but my brain would experience severe atrophy with any sustained reading of that content.

When was the last time you really learned something in the posts there?
I can't remember, either.

30. I've learned that they are really hateful.
The only exposure I have to them is the bits I read that get posted over here, and I usually try to avoid even that.

When I saw that they were laughing over the death of Marla Ruzika, I knew they were sub-human. Anyone who rejoices over the death of a beautiful, compassionate young woman with her whole life ahead of her, simply because they disagree with her politics, is a fiend, and NOT very Christian like they would have you think.

Granted, many of them were decent about it, but those that weren't are simply abhorrent soulless monsters.

I have no desire to know anything more about such people.

13. I was going to do a page with a serious comparison of FR vs DU
I actually learned about DU by following a link weeks ago to free republic. They tend to talk about DU alot. Since I was a member at neither I thought I could approach a comparison as an unbiased observer. My politics generally fall somewhere in between (and outside of) the two extremes - but I learned something by doing this. I lurked at both sites for weeks and recorded a ton of data but alas, Democratic Underground came out on top in nearly every single category. And overall I tended to spend more time actually reading posts here instead of pointing and laughing at the other site. So instead I threw out the whole idea and signed up here.

I'm a computer science major in california. Hello.

This is my first post.

The real American Discussion is going on here. There are views from all over the spectrum here, since the current administration is so narrowly focused. Many Republicans here, wondering where there party went, and everyone wondering what's happened to our Country.

I, too, feel it is odd how angry and bitter - as well as DU obsessed - they are over there on those conservative sites.

I shudder to think what goes through their heads!

Glad you chose to hang out here!

18. An old "Peanuts" punchline comes to mind...
where Lucy says, "You're never quite so stupid as when you're trying to be smart." The site's critique of Will's essay reveals, at the very least, a deplorable lack of reading comprehension skills. Many of Will's "mistakes" are simply the author's inability to read a sentence in plain English.

27. DummieFunnies' purpose may be to help their moles mess with DU,
not to provide a moment of laughter for Freepers.

I cant say for sure, because I dont have the patience to read much of what is posted over at the Freeper site, it is pretty lame. However, the quote they posted from me would only have been picked up if there really was a Freeper on that particular thread trying to start internal conflict within DU and if he/she got pissed off because I showed up and cooled things off. Putting the comment in DummieFunnies would be an attempt to mock me, perhaps to discourage me from mediating in Freeper initiated disturbances at DU.

They cant actually post all this, because they know that we can read it, too. So, they post it in a disguised form.

There are few bright people over there, but for the most part, they are dim bulbs. You have to be pretty dumb to slave for a corporate master who feeds you crumbs and never ever intends to let you rise above the level of peon. Unless you are a staunch Right to Lifer or rich as sin , I just cant see the appeal of the far right.
