1. impeachment, florida 2000 etc
because it's just another attempt by republicans to steal elected office they can't win in a democratic election. this is not just about california, just as the texas redistricting issue is not just about texas. that's why i wanted to punch that dumbass arnold in the face anything he said this is not about bush or washington. the moron can't see how things are connected. it's the typical moron american attitude .

4. Now, I dont quite get that
The recall is perfectly legal and in the state's constitution. It bit the fool who started it square in the ass and cost him millions out of his own pocket.

How is it "stealing" if it is legal? Democrats will win on the issues, as they always do.

7. Recall is allowed for in the State constitution certainly
but the grounds for the recall of Davis are such as would make the framers of that part of the document roll over in their graves.

Davis was elected, TWICE, by the voters of this state, he is being blamed for the actions of Pete Wilson, the Federal government, the energy providers who illegally kited the cost of power, and thus the will of the people is, yet again, being subverted and their attention sidetracked from those who are really guilty. The best that California can hope for is defeat of this effort, a slim chance at best. The second best is a win for Bustamonte, whose politics I frankly detest. Most likely we will wind up with The Terminator, and I will undoubtedly be sick to my stomach for years!

staying out of politics? I am VERY ANGRY about this double standard!!! Hollywood liberals were attacked by the damn FReeper crowd and now they are supported an actor for the governorship!!!

So obviously only Republican Celebrities can be in politics!!

3. Because Cali reflects the nation
That's true of any state but we are significant in population and economic clout. Besides, I it's exciting when our electoral votes go to a Dem. :bounce:

5. Think Jeb Bush's role in Election 2000

Now think of the repugs getting to do whatever they want with the voter rolls of California. They will make every attempt possible to keep every Democrat from voting. Can't you see KKKarl Rove just drooling over all those electoral votes being in his control. It's the biggest piece of the electoral pie.

9. I'm a long time California resident
I have voted in every California election since 1962. I've seen this state go from a progressive, forward moving state in the early 60s to a hardcore conservative bastion. Prior to Gray Davis, there were 16 years of repuke governors. Dukemajian(sp?) and Wilson were no good sons of bitches.
If the repukes win this recall election, the good citizens of California have only themselves to blame. Just five percent of the total votes cast in the last election was enough to cause the recall to go to ballot. Five percent! A genuine tyranny of the minority. The beltway whore press likes to spin it as a ground swell of democratic revolt. Bullshit. A repuke with a spare 2 million bought those signatures. But, all that aside, there are more Dems in this state than repukes. If Dems bother to go and vote, the repukes can not win. It's that simple. Blacks, browns, anyone of color will profit the least from a repuke victory. There is no poll tax, no false instructions confusing anyone. Those that sit home October 7th, have no complaint if Ahnold doesn't work out.
I signed a cyber petition from Moveon.org against the recall. Moveon.org is trying to organize 50,000 callers to rally support against the recall. I question the advertising the California party is doing against the recall. The question is the lack of it so far.
In 1932, Hitler took power with a little over 30 percent of the vote. I'm not comparing Ahnold to Hitler, but am comparing repukes tactics to Nazi tactics. "Screw the results of a general election! Let's buy a recall and overturn those results!"
I am full of trite sayings tonight:
"all evil needs to triumph is for good men to remain quiet."
It doesn't really seem so trite. Seems more to the point.
